Unhappy Front bumper removal?

How hard is it? Bought a front lip spoiler off ebay, offered it up to my front bumper and it's ok in the middle but miles out at the sides. About a two inch gap between the bumper and front lip where it would bond to the side of bumper. Seller reckons gotta fit it to bumper when it's off the car. Don't think it would make any difference. Surely if the bumper flexes when off then the fiberglass will just shatter/crack when re-attached? Please help. And before anyone says it I know that generally you only get what you paid for.

What spoiler is it ? I had the same problem when fitting mine to my old scoob. It was the 3 piece one off the pre 98 bumper. Sorted the problem by fitting it on a friends ramp who owns a garage
