Default Removing Orange Wedges

How easy are these to take out so that i can spay them a different colour? Is it just a case of taking out the front lower indicator and unclipping them?

Also what colour would go best Silver or black?, the car is DBM.

Alan.

unscrew indicators and you'll be able to pop them off from the back.

my dbm classic with halfords made up dbm painted wedges.

Don't even have to do that.

Wrap a cloth over a flat headed screwdriver and pry them out. They pop out damned easily, trust me.

I've gone for balck on my DBM but silver does look good too.

Easy to remove with a flat-blade screwdriver. Just wrap it in a cloth to avoid scratching the car. You should spot some indents at the top of the wedges where you can put the screwdriver.

Give them a light sanding and either spray them directly or you could try prime them, spray them and then apply some lacquer. Depends if you can be bothered or worried about the finish.

Colour is a personal thing. I colour coded mine, then sprayed them black about 6 months later.

Wink

I bought a small hook tool which i use to pop them out..

similar to this:
http://www.reidmfg.com/images/hires/...ball_RHT-6.JPG

less chance of scratches/scuffs which could occur from using a flathead screwdriver...

works great.
hope this helps

I tried this after someone recommended it to me and ended up making a right mess! Mine were orange over primer, the orange came of reasonably well, but not the primer. Ended up scraping it off with a screwdriver and scratching them in the process.
You are better off giving them a light rub down and just spraying topcoat over them IMHO, no point removing a surface that is already well keyed in.

Just leave the orange wedges in thinners for about one hour and that nicely softens the orange paint up to be removed, did mine nice silver too to match the indicators think silver looks really good on a DBM as long as changed front indicators that is.

I used normal thinners and a washing up pad! there was primer underneath the orange paint but came off easy enough! then just sprayed black paint directly onto the plastic wedges as they had a faded black finish! took me about 30 mins! then just kept spraying them so they had nice shiny finish

Will have my own to do once i get a bumper sorted
