Reg plate mounting removal
#1
Was thinking of removing reg mounting and middle cross section from front bumper,Anyone done this,How much hassle?.
Was thinking of this because it would open up the front intake and would make the front end look well aggressive...........

I've done this, I assume yours is a classic too ?
Its easy to do, providing you have the right tool - a TORX security bit. God knows why they used a security fastener on a number plate mounting.
Here's what it looks like....
Hope this helps,

Don't know the size, but its 1/4 inch screwdriver or socket bit, with a TORX security head - same as a normal TORX bit ie. 6 pointed, but with a hole in the middle to accept the stud on the bolt. Normal TORX bits will not work.
I got a set from Screwfix or somewhere like that, for £4.
Remove the number plate - the bracket behind is held on with 2 of these TORX security bolts. Remove these and hey presto, job done.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need owt else.

No probs mate, just thought - it might be worth checking the type of bolts holding the bracket in ? You might have normal ones ?
Just checked the Screwfix website, they want £10 for a set of bits !
Tell you what, check what bolts you got, and if you need the special one, mail me offline and I'll send you the bit you need, on the understanding I get it back !

Don't think Halfords do TORX Security bits though, at least they didn't when I looked.
Ethanr, check what bolts you got - plain or security - then get in touch with me when you've got a replacement plate ready, and I'll send you the bit you need, by the power of Scoobynet !
