Washing-up liquid is handy for getting stubborn bug deposits and dissolved tar off, but, as has been said, it strips the wax, so a re-wax afterwards is a must.

Mods, please can you leave this for a while so I can get a few quick replies?!
Title says it all - what car shampoo do you all use to clean the Scooby, and does it really matter...??!
I'm assuming that people polish only every month or so, but wash maybe every week...?

A lot of peeps on here use Swissol products I think you can clean the car with out a shampoo once wax'd?(not sure).
I just use a wash and wax thing (Turtle wax extreme I think) once a week and wax the car every month or so.
Swissol stuff is quite expensive, but the result I've seen on here are V.good.
Cheers.
Ian.

Autoglym car bodywork shampoo conditioner stuff - works great, especially with the Autoglym polish too. With the gold label polish (extra gloss protection) on top of the red label polish (silicon polish) it's smoother than a smooth thing that feeling particularly slick.
IMO for value for money (by this I mean the usual cost versus performance compromise) you can't beat the Autoglym polish cleaning products generally.
I've looked at various ones, but just can't afford to spend £100 on a tub of Superfandangoturbofannymagnet Polish from the likes of Swissol etc.

Used to use Autoglym utill i tried Swissol. no comparism the car is so easy to wash with the car bath after it has been waxed i only use about a third of a bucket full of water now to wash the car and the wash cloth is spotless after washing, coz you rinse of with water first the dirt obviously just comes of easy.
Abit pricey but belive me well worth it.
Cheers James
