would it be sacrilege to put a smaller spoiler on the STi8?

I've moved up from a normal old impreza turbo and boy does that thing get some attention. I will of course defer to people who know better than I if it genuinely does anything for performance but its seriously in your face. I think the new car would be rather beautiful if it was a few inches lower!!!

I know where you coming from mate, I have an RB5 WR and the spoiler pisses me right off, I prefer a standard MY 99 / 00. Drove a P1 and that spoiler would really get on my ****. Far to high and vibrates like ****!!

I like the looks of them but they can be a PITA cos they either block the headlights of cars behind, or the higher ones block the "police" lights fitted to certain cars!
Worth the sacrifice though IMO.... total sacriledge if you take it off

Yes, do it. That's actually why I bought a plain STI and not the Prodrive version of the VII. With the "normal" wing you are not sending the "race me" signal while performance wice you are still up to it ;o)

YES!
If you changed it, I think you would need a smaller scoop as well - the two seem to balance thmselves out and give the car some proportion.
Agree that it can draw some attention, but I am not sure how subtle an 8 would be with a smaller spoiler. I saw some school kids peering in to the scoop on mine to see the STI logo on the intercooler - they didn't notice the rear spoiler (still trying to pull them out though)

I agree with londonpaul - the STI rear spoiler is pants. The WRX spoiler is maybe not the best but at least it would generate less interest by the boys in blue.
Even after two weeks Im not that happy with it, maybe it will grow on me.

How about the spoiler on the UK300 ? Aggressive, but not the run of the mill boomerang shape on the standard WRX.
And don't forget the 1.6TS badge
I consider this whenever I think / thought about an STI7/8.

I've been looking for someone with the guts to do that If/when I get another scoob I'm going for the de-spoiler, de-scoop look (with FMIC, can you get aluminium Sport bonnets?), I haven't seen anyone do anything like that yet, and I think they should I have a photoshopped version of my old MY98 UK at home and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself
