Question

I have an MY98 wagon in bright red. I would like to get the sills sprayed to match. A m8 has said he will spray them for me if i get the paint. I have heard you need a undercoat made for plastic.
When sprayed up, how well do they stand up to stone chips etc?
Will i need to use lacquer?
Do the sill just pop off or are they fastened on?
I know i should check the last point myself !!
Thanks
Greg.

Done mine myself. The sills have IIRC 4 bolts underneath and then just pull off of the clips they are fastned to.
They will need a good clean(all the polish and back to black type of agents to get off) and key up with some sand paper, then use some plastic primer then they can be painted to match your body colour.

Mine have been done prob nearly 3 months and they have not sustained any damage...yet.

It'll look loads better when done mate so go for it.

Question

And while you're in the mood, get the rear two, the mirrors, and the door-handles done too. If you take them all off, you can get them sprayed for £120 or so, and it makes a heck of a difference to the appearance of the car.

Got the primer and paint.
I intend on doing the back two as well.
I had a quick go at the fastening bolts today.
Bloody things are revolving but not coming out !
Need to get the car up on some ramps and get some leverage or
mole grips on them when it stops pe***ng down.
Should be worth it though.

Thanks for the advice.

Got em off at last !
Its not much fun rolling round on your back in the road.
I was amazed to see how much mud had accumalated inside them.
I cleaned them up and have primed them ready for my mate to spray
up. Cant wait to get them back on again and colour coded.
Its been a busy day as i also bought a second hand scoobysport
back box.
Got to get that fitted next.

Good luck.

Greg.
