Has anyone ever thought of getting proper clear sidelights made for the classic impreza? With the later models getting clear headlights and foglights, and many people fitting clear front and side indicators it leaves the sidelights looking out of place.

Surely wouldn't be too difficult to design/manufacture compared to headlights or rear lights, since they are only needed as markers using 5W bulbs.

Does this sound feasible, and would we get enought interest that a company could turn it into a commercially feasible product?

I asked if anyone made the said items ages ago, to no avail. If they are produced, i'll be right at the front of the Q.

Aha Got you all excited there eh? I went away last night and learned to read the English language and discovered I'm a numpty! Yeah - I meant side repeaters - LOL! I'll get me coat!

Thats the reason I didn't go for the crystal indicators, as they sit under the sidelight, the normal effect ones match that better.

I too asked about this a couple of weeks ago and would be well up there in line if indeed a manufacturer made these. Maybe we need to go ask a manufacturer?

The plan was to gauge interest first then propose a manufacturer to get them made. Unless there's a decent interest I can't see anyone taking it on though, it's got to be commercially viable for them.

umm, I've got a MY98 Impreza, and it's got clear indicators on the side (next to the headlights). So you could get them as parts. Scoobymods.com has instructions about how to do them yourself?

If you're talking about the side repeaters (just in front of the doors), then those are already available, as are the clear indicators which sit inside the front bumper.

Check with TSL.

Hi Guys

i have been talking to a few manufacturers about these.. would look great I agree.

The problem is the number needed to justify a production run... and the only problem is they wouldn't be the big improvement that all the other custom lights are, as they are at least clear already. So that worries them all a bit

Will keep trying and talking.. stranger things have happened

Cheers

Paul

Hi there,

Are you lads talking about getting the side lights in crystal clear, next to the headlamps i would be up for that i did think you could already get them, as i have changed indicators to crystal clear. What a bummer if you can't i would of been better of with just clear as they would match allround.

James.

Cool

Paul,

What sort of numbers are needed to justify a run? 50? 100? 1000?

I think they'd be a BIG improvement over the originals.

The sidelights on my MY99 are clearish, but the light is badly affected by the glass. I put in some Philips Bluevision jobs and they looked fantastic out of the glass - a nice brilliant white colour. Soon as I stuck them in the glass, they turned a nasty dull yellow colour.

Some clean glass and a cool reflector to match the headlamp would look great

Stefan

Cheers Paul, keep us updated if anything comes out of the discussion. I'd also be interested in the number required to make it commercially viable.

If anyone else is interested in these post here because the more interest that is shown the better chance we have of making it reality

Yo Trouser mate - Kiwi connections would be loving it if you can get a production run. You could do whole "conversion" packages - hook up the clear sidelights, repeaters as the "basic", throw in the rear lexus lights as the "advanced" and add the Morrette Twin Lamps as the "WHOA" package!

Seeing as I'm looking to do everything, I'll take "WHOA". hahahahaha

...anyone agree?

Hi guys

.. sorry. not ignoring you!

Ozzy.. normally in the 1,000's mate .. just cost of production, type approval and E marking etc...

I too would love to see something that could go next to a Morrette unit and integrate it a little better... can the photoshop geniuses out there come up with anything?

cheers

Guys,

There was some pic of a guys P1 who had his sidelights colour coded which looked the nuts, he had Morettes on his car and his sidelights were in the Morette unit, It basically looked like the wings came around to meet the headlights.

I'll try and find it but it was a few months ago.....

Cool

Any one been looking on Subaru parts.com, they have slear side lights in the STI section, and to me look a lot clearer than the standard ones it also says now available!!!! so are these new to the American market. If so we could of found what we are looking for, i can't tell how clear they are but i have sent an e-mail enquiring about them so watch this space and see what happens. They are in the STI mods section so i can't see that they are standard ones myself as they arn't a mod in standard form.

James.

p.s fingers crossed.
