OMG. As an avid Saints fan i was over the moon to see Hodgson even play him. After all he left Lallana on the bench. What a Debut. Scores the winning goal with his first touch and nearly scores 2 more. Consider the nerves and only having a few hours training with the rest of the squad.
The last player to score in their England Debut was Shearer, also saints.

A very happy chopper tonight

Why

I remember watching him play for Macclesfield 12 years ago, and whilst he remains our record transfer sale, 300K to Stockport County, no big clubs came looking then.

He was at Liverpool from age 10 to 15 and was basically told he wasn’t good enough.

To be honest, from what I remember of him, I would have agreed with that assessment, and i would suggest a lot of County fans would agree with me.

He is a completely different player now, an excellent example of where sheer hard work and determination can get you

I agree with that.
His problem now is doing what he has just done consistantly.

I wonder who will bid for him before the transfer window closes?
