Newcastle , and I was having a few ciders I save special brew for the weekend . I used to rate gerrard but he is average at best, goals and assist's have dropped away badly in last few years for England. always goes missing in the big tournaments as do most England players. so yeah I stand by my comment of average player in a average team.

Oh I think he is above average, naturally, he is a premiership player. However, he has never really shone in an England shirt (different story for his club side) but he has somehow ended up as our captain. Club loyalties don't come in to it either, I want the best players wearing the shirt, I support England. At top international level Gerrard would not force his way in to many top teams yet he's our figure head and captain.

Great game, best friendly we've had in years.
As for Gerrard, I think I said in here over a year a go he isn't the player he once was, he's looked a yard short of pace for some time now, you can see why he has said he will retire from international football after the WC.
