I wondered how long it would take for a cynical opinion! He could play anywhere within reason, so why would he join PSG if he was so financially hogtied?
An amazing gesture by a true role model and gentleman.

Well, he patently is, unless he lied to the media and all of us.

Obviously. Why pay 75% in taxes when you can pay 100% to charity?!

Don't be daft, Beckham hasn't played proper football for years, it's nothing but a PR scam.

There are tax advantages. Beckham is also expected to earn an unstated amount from PSG from image rights and merchandising. Under French law, such earnings are taxed at 30 per cent.

His salary, which will go straight to a children’s charity would have been taxed at around 55 per cent, including social levies.

So Beckham is to land a £20 million deal to become the face of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Oh and by the way PSG is owned by the investment arm of the Qatar Government.

What do all you Beckham man-love boys think of that?

TBH who gives a **** what he earns.

At the end of the day, he didn't have to join PSG and didn't have to give his salary to charity....He could of joined a host of other clubs in various different leagues and no doubt pulled in more money.

I say good luck to him.
There are thousands of organisations that would love him to be on their payroll.
Like him or not, he is the face of all that is good in football and has worldwide respect for his achievements.

Pity his missus doesn't know how to smile.

There will no doubt be tax write offs and other contracts for image rights but in my opinion its a great gesture that he did not have to make.
I reckon this is a 6 month trial for himself to see if he can or cannot still cut it at the top level. If he makes money fair play everyone who works sells their skills to an employer and thats all he is doing.
