Don Fabio
Stay or go?
Even after yesterday he is statistically the most successful English manager ever.
Stats
Gerrard wants him to stay - the media is talking up his 'communication' issue however there would seem to be no support from the players on this front.
Personally, I have grown to like him. And with the £15m or so sunk cost, we have paid a lot to train him in International Events!

Keep him.
It was a shocking world cup but it was also his first tournament. The Euro quali's will be on us a few months and getting rid now is not the answer. I'd keep the whole lot together, barring one or two exceptions, and tell them " Do it better next time! "

Get rid I say. He clearly has lost authority with the John Terry outburst to the press. And once youve lost that its a downward spiral. I personally cant stand him and cant understand half of what he says so have no idea how the team do.
The only stat that really counts is tournament performances and Sven got us to the quarters in 2 WC and 1 EC.

But Sven with all that experience was out first round this time.
I would prefer to see Terry go than Don Fabio go.
As for Redknapp* - remember on Thursday he was saying England had a great chance against this German team and he would much prefer to play the Germans than Ghana. He was also pretty supportive of the Don.
Well - good judgement showed there!
Sacking him would be knee jerk and the new manager would take two years to find his feet - just in time not to qualify for the Euros!
*Also Redknapp is still waiting for his court case so there is no way they can appoint him now!

He was never going to resign and lose the possibility of a £12m pay off for being sacked. However if the FA sack him now after removing the break clause there should be sackings at the FA as it would be a waste of £12m when the clause would have prevented such a pay out.

Pontificating
If the FA sack him they should sack themselves also.
They rushed through the new deal when the rumours about Inter sniffing about started.
They stalled on the centre of excellence in Burton, money cannot be the issue.
Wembley project was a fiasco.
The problems run deeper than the manager and his overpaid over inflated egostistical players.
No I wouldn't sack him, give them all another 2 years to atone for this farce, all unpaid of course.
Seems Rooney is being made a scapegoat which is a little unfair imo

He is not a scapegoat - but he really did not play well at this tournament.
There was an interview with him before it started and he did not seem committed - he was talking about it being a long season and he was tired. He may have been physically OK but you could clearly see he was mentally not there.
I am sure this was true of a number of players...
