Default Messi tonight...

....just amazing, the scary thing is he is capable of this every other week and infact has another gear or two if he really want's it. Rooney, Ronaldo, Kaka...etc are just nowhere near this guy's ability, not even close.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, he is the best player in the world by far, at the moment.

However I'm sure they'll be a few Utd fanboys along later to tell us we're all wrong and Roony is "Da man".

He is great, but at 22, a la Ronaldo, he has the rolling round off to a tee. Last night he just embarrassed himself when rolling round after being tackled outside Arsenals box.

Lets just say he is by far the greatest player around at the mo, but no better than Ronaldinho in his prime, and how would he manage twenty .......nay ten years ago with a bit more agricultural treatment?

I dont watch as much La Liga as I used to so dont get to see him much but that was a very impressive performance last night. Id still say Ronaldo is a more complete player (overall pace, freekicks & headers).

Messi's first last night was pretty spectacular. Closed down pretty darn fast but such quick feet and rifled it into the net from outside the box.

Naaaah Rooney is DA MAN, Messi is just smoke and dust

I agree with Simon that Ronaldo is still better for me, purely because he has a better all round game. Not taking anything away from Messi though, the guy is incredible and the ball just looks glued to his feet but i'd rather have Ronaldo in my team

Dont you guys just hate how football has gone though, granted Messi is pure class, but him and all his team mates are cheats. It is horrible to see and I would imagine it has dribbled down into saturday football. I havent played for a few seasons, but the first guy I saw diving like Messi et al did last night was kicked to within an inch of his pointless Cornish life for the next 70 mins.
I watch my boy, 8 yo, play on a weekend and the diving, rolling round and squealing like a pig is coming in, in a big way. Just horrible to see. I can see why the Rugby fraternity call it puffball now. Ive told the boy I wont come and watch him if he rolls round like his mates, and to his credit, he plays a bit like Scholes, just gets on with it.

Rant over!
