The Champions League thread 2009-2010
So, can any of our teams stop the Spanish juggernaut from rolling on to another title? With all the money swilling around the coffers at Real Madrid and Barcelona, it looks like English clubs' domination of this tournament may be at an end.
Meanwhile congratulations to Celtic for getting through to the next stage. Who will they play next to qualify for the Group stage? What about Arsenal?
All will be revealed at lunchtime today.

So it's the draw for the Group stages later today (5pm).
Let's hope that Real Madrid get picked in Man Utd's Group. Then we can get the inevitable Return of Ronaldo thing over and done with straightaway.

Funny night all round yesterday really. Fancy Euro Champs Barcelona being beaten at home by a team that no-one's ever heard of. You expect that of 1-dimensional chumps like Rangers though.

Thought the United game was very boring to watch. I can't get my head round Valencia, he seems just so one dimensional. He always goes to his right, runs down the wing and crosses it in Defenders will soon cotton on to it and push him on to his left.
Thought Fabio had a good game and is showing great potential

Give the lad some time, he seems to be improving already imo, there is no way the United coaching wouldn't allow him to remain one dimensional if they thought he was. They said the same about the Ego and he turned out alright (as a footballer)
Considering all you ever here is how crap United are away from home in Europe I was surprised to see they set another Champions League record with their 13th away game without defeat supassing Ajax' run from 94-97, I think they also hold the record for most consecutive wins and the most consecutive 1/4 final appearances, we just need to win a few more of those jug eared trophies.

I think he will come good Funkii, he shows some brilliance but i'd like to see more variation in his game. Saying that Ronaldo was very raw when he arrived and he turned out alright

There's one BIG difference!
Ronaldo was only 18 when SAF signed him. Valencia is 24 (same as Ronaldo).
If Valencia was only 18 now, I could imagine that his play would improve no end with careful coaching. However, those 6 years are already behind him and he's nowhere near the player that Ronaldo is.
