Default The Official Ashes 2009 Thread

I thought I'd kick this off early with the braking news that Harmison is out and BELL is back in.

FFS don't they learn

A break with tradition and the first test isn't at Lords

Vaughnie retires in a strop.

Flintoff still hasn't found his real form.

It's not looking good is it

And KP looks dodgy, as do Hughes and Punter.

It will be Jimmy's summer

Cant wait, so excited, watched the Ashes 2005 DVD this morning, it'll never live up to 2005 though will it.

Doh ! Calendar fail

4 years ago we had 2 plasma's on the walls at work + Sky sports, didn't miss a ball.

I'll be lucky to get 4 hours a day this time round , I don't think my wife took me too seriously when I warned them there will be no TV after 20.00 from Wednesday for the next few weeks

Confirmed out of the 1st test and possibly the 2nd, although I think he's past his best he looked best suited to the English pitches in their recent warm up match against the Lions, Johnson looked to be struggling.

As Warnie would say, one more sleep to go

As Jim Laker said "The aim of English cricket is, in fact, mainly to beat Australia."

I thought the mooted move to 4 day test matches was a ridiculous idea but, in fact, that's all they ever seem to last nowadays isn't it...

So, do you think we'll see out the day?

I drive home and the wickets fall

So, 450 achievable?

Lets face it we've thrown away nearly all of the wickets, the Aussies will probably get 500+. Throw in some weather and we have a draw written all over this

not 450... 380-410 , the new ball is still 'new' and it's swinging more than the first cherry.

Aussies will get 270 or 450+

Wouldn't want to bat last if we don't lose a lot of time, looks very dry already.

Funkii's going to be happy if Anderson gets a 50

I'm in a good mood tonight so I'm going to give KP the benefit of the doubt. He was clearly trying for a brilliant shot and just got unlucky........ not that he was lead into making a stupid mistake by a bowler who knew what he was doing

The pitch is falling apart, Jimmy will swing both ways and they'll follow on, well that's what I've been telling the locals

I'd take 400 right now, which imo (which is usually wrong) will be a good score. I can see Broad getting some ***** into their throats, Swanny and Monty should be using the cracks that are appearing, the pitch will be all over the place on day 4.

Lets hope my theory is correct

Your man Jimmy has gone

Think they must be happy with the total now and any extra runs will be a bonus
