Arsenal goal WRONGLY disallowed within the first few minutes. Arsenal would have walked over Boro if the correct decision was given, as Boro would have to come out and play football.

The free kick that resulted in the Boro goal should never have been a free kick. Also it could be said that Aliadere was interfering with the game when he was offside. Instead he goes on to score with Boro's only shot on target.

Man Utd on the other hand win by a very narrow margin as they have a goal allowed, when it should have been offside.

Its sad how wrong ref decisions have shaped the top of the table.

Was it really. Shearer on MOTD said ref got it wrong. IMHO if Adebayor is that far ahead of the defensive line then he is interfering with play and the fact the final pass bounced off a Boro player doesnt make a difference. Shearer was right tho that the governing bodies need to make the rules more black and white as to avoid different interpretations as we see currently. But lets face it that will never happen.

The ball was played through by boateng thus he could not have been offside.

its gutting to see 2 bad decisions change everything.. being a gooner i was gutted about it, but i can except that its our own fault. drawing 4 games in a row at this late stage of the season is shocking. looking forward to weekend, think we can manage a draw but chelsea have an outstanding record at home. man u liverpool 1-1

Again it depends on your interpretation. FA Rules:

TheFA.com - Law 11 - Offside

Offence

A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by:

interfering with play or
interfering with an opponent or
gaining an advantage by being in that position
'played' being the key word there. As IIRC an arsenal player passed the ball and it got a deflection off boateng rather than him attempting a clearance, back pass etc which played adebayor in. If thats not the case then I will just shut up

He wasn't offside when the Arsenal player played the ball - he was when it was deflected off Boateng.

As Arsene said "Nobody knows if he was offside because nobody knows the rules anymore".

I can't even take the **** out of girls for not understanding the offside rule anymore .

I think the rule is now - If the ref thinks it's offside then it's offside.

A short pass was made to robin van persie, and at that moment adebayor was in an offside position but not near the current play and the pass to rvp was nowhere near adebayor so not offside..boetang then kicked the ball and it went to adebayor so not offside. the ref was 4 yards from it and could see it all yet did not overule the linesman.

Anyway, we shouldn't have to rely on things like that to beat boro at home. The only time to balme decisions are in key one off matches where there is no evening out over the season...such as eto's offisde goal against us in the 2006 champs league final to make it 1-1....

IIRC In one of those draws it was another bad ref decision....penalty wrongly awarded in the dying seconds against Clichy (sp)

Arsenal haven't been playing badly at all....far from hit.....just the rub of the green keep going against them.

They have got what it takes to come through the big games though and I look forward to the Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool games.....lets just hope the refs don't decide the results of those fixtures too...
