Default Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

It'll be a shame to put a blotch on Glenn Roeder's recent run of form, I think he's done a cracking job, so far.

I'm hoping Sir Alex gives Ruud the green light today. He's a wasted talent on the bench, and it'll put to rest the recent speculation regarding his future with the club.

My prediction: 3-1. This fixture always produces goals, but I expect us to ease through today.

I'd like to dedicate the starting of this thread to Paul.

Dave

And there was me thinking he'd be too busy working on the synopsis for his first book...

"Coleen! I've signed a 5 book publishing deal! I've almost finished the first, so there's only 3 more to go..."

Cheers

Considering he's to be paid £5m for doing so, I think he'll have the last laugh, don't you?

Quality performance today, apart from only converting two of the 29 attempts we had. Other than the glaring misses, we played like champions.

Awful, I think everybody passing me driving home, with the radio on listening to the match, must have thought I had serious road rage at the amount of swearing that was taking place.

Nearly turned up in the second half but not quite, Man U ripped us apart and dominated in all areas of the pitch.

Rooney, what a player can't say anymore, outstanding

I still think he should score more goals for the money, Dave. Does his brace today make it 12 in the EPL this Season? Not too good really.

I think he'll have the last laugh
Well at least the Press and Media don't take the "urine" out of me for my literary skills. They had quite a laugh on BBC Radio 5 Live about his book deal!

Whilst I don't make the kind of money that Rooney will, my work's been published for the last 25 years. I'd rather be fondly remembered when I'm gone for my achievements, rather than as a (very) rich, (very) talented, but (very) monosyllabic Footballer...

Cheers

You clearly have no idea as to what Rooney brings to United.

In that case, that's your prerogative.

If he's earning £5m, I wonder what someone with an educated background and a complex vocabulary/literary style could earn writing; like yourself, for instance.

You mean someone such as JK Rowling? I understand she's worth around £500,000,000 at present... Dan Brown's doing none too bad either! I won't continue the list, but it's typical of Scoobynet, to have someone belittle and devalue the written word.

like yourself, for instance
Well, I don't make as much as JK, Dan or Rooney, but I'm happy. Envious that his name means he commands such a fee for so little content or value. My words and images are rewarded at the standard Industry rate, albeit a very generous Industry rate...

However, my career will be longer than Rooney's. What will he do once he retires? Count his spoils no doubt. He certainly won't be a Media pundit like Shearer or say Gavin Peacock. He won't make a career out of selling Crisps or hosting MOTD like Gary Lineker. Nor will he "do" a Dave Whelan and make millions as a businessman. I can't even see Rooney making a fitness video or maybe he has already and it's passed me by...

Let's not get carried away: Rooney's a fine, if volatile Footballer, but his book deal's not so much about recording his wit and wisdom , as making money for the publisher. Great idea - wish I'd thought of it. Mind of course, he won't actually write the books. Who knows, it could be me!

Cheers

Just out of curiosity, can you point me in the direction of some of your work?
Sure, I've written and undertaken photographic assignments for such titles as Autocar, Rally Sport, Motoring News, The Lady, The Times, Performance Car (that was), Amateur Photographer, Camera etc. I've also written technical brochures for a variety of companies dealing with, for example, injection moulding techniques, through to the handling of hazardous waste. This is usually, but not exclusively undertaken, along with suitable photographs.

I also draft and write course/examination specifications for several exam boards. Subjects include: Photography, Digital Photography, Digital Imaging (Photoshop), Web Design (Dreamweaver) and Web Animation (Flash). I'm a Photographer by profession, although my first degree's in English Literature.

I'm HOD (Photography/Digital Imaging) at a College in the North East, so part of the week's spent lecturing, part writing, and part in the (Photography) Studio.

Happy now? I thought not...

Shearer is as dull as ditch water with his punditry (sp?) but when Mcdonalds drop you what else is left

As for Rooney he'll more thank likely be eating rather than advertising Crisps...

Time for a pundit thread

It wasnt a brilliant match and both teams didnt really play that well. Man Utd had so many chances to score more and either didnt take them or messed them up. Bringing Rudd on in the second half didnt offer much and even he kicked the ball passed the wrong side of the net!

Still, winnings winning and another 3 points!

Got to disagree Dave - articulate and to the point. I had lunch with him once. Nice bloke and very funny. Also wanted to talk about Scoobs, so can't be that bad!
