Default England Strikers!!!

Why did Andy Johnson of Crystal Palace not make the England squad but Defoe did??? He has the best goal ratio to games in the country...granted he has had only one season in top flight football...but scored 23 that season (last year) and was the top english goal scorer...2 behind Henry.......

That swede is off his trollie!!!!!!!!!

I must admit, some of his choices confuse me too For instance, when Johnson finally got a game last year it was as a winger Or having Beckham in the middle of the park Or playing SWP on the left wing

Sven is a big name player coach, always has been.

Danny Muphy should of been in the England squad a long time ago this season, but never was. Had he been wearing a Chelsea/Gunners/United shirt I expect he would have been selected.

I also agree with AJ, I'm a big fan of him. He IMHO would be a superb person to have on the bench, in the same way that Crouch will cause problems in the World Cup against teams who lack height or the ability to cope with a Target man.....

Being a United fan one thing that also amazed me was Rio playing ahead of Jamie Carragher in the centre of the park on some occasions. Sven has hinted that he will move Rio in the centre of the park to allow Campbell and Terry to be the centre backs. Well Sven, if thats the case do it-But because Rio carries a big-name-charlie name tag with him it does'nt mean you have to play him out of position!

I honestly hope Steve McLaren has some say in the team selection for the World Cup because Sven is really our weak link.....

I'd rather Mclaren stayed as far away as possible from anything to do with England nevermind team selection.

Thumbs up

Think Johnson has been injured recently, probably why he ain't playing. Hope he's in the squad for the world cup.

Believe it or nor but Sven has been to Selhurst Park this season. Think he was at the Palace V Reading game.

have to agree. AJ isnt a world cup player in my mind. if he was really all that no matter how loyal he was to palace he would have been tempted back into the prem this year. If he was that proven then some prem team would shell out for him.

He's another marcus stewart, remember when people were clamouring for him to be in the england squad?!! omfg what was that all about!!

Get a grip you tit....

Offers for AJ in the summer as follows...

West brom: 3.5m +rob earnshaw
Everton 8m
Tottenham 5m
Liverpool (while they were pondering over lanky) 7m

They were the offers on the table and simon jordan would not accept them as he is key to there promotion challenge.....

His goalscoring record speaks for its self..and as for the penaltys..well if you actually watch any of them its coz he is so damn quick that all you can do is take him down.....and he scores them all....most strikers cant say that...

Joe.....

P.s. sanu is right that if he had not been injured then i feel he would have been in squad...

ahh, a palace fan i see! maybe AJ has no aspirations then. With the player power in the game today (not that i agree with it at all but its there) if he wanted to go he could have. Its noble to say he will help palace back up, but come on. I still stand by the fact if he was THAT good and has the drive to better himself he would have gone to one of those big teams.

You cant honestly believe he would choose to stay at palace when tottenham, 'pool, toffees etc are after him? And those clubs just wouldnt take no for and answer if he was all that.

Better off taking Murphy than Hargreaves - only thing he's done for England is give possession away.

As a Spurs Fan I'd take Jenas but leave Carrick, at least JJ knows where the net is! Carricks been playing in the Lampard position but I only wished he could keep up in the scoring charts.

If Steve McLaren becomes the new England boss I'm gonna start supporting Scotland! No ******* way he should be in charge, nor Bryan Robson for that matter.

Agreed about AJ

It looks like Sven models his team around Owen starting, so AJ is the ideal understudy to him, he's out of the same mould.

So when its AJ's big chance, he leaves Owen on and plays him on the right wing. WTF?

I really have no idea what Sven sees in Hargreaves.

There are so many better players who can play in that position. (Like Murphy)

Yes on the right wing, thats why hes never effective for England because hes given a role he doesnt normally fill, IIRC made Bayerns player of the year last year or the year before.

maybe he needs to move to a real league where we can tell how good he is!! Dont see him as a winger myself. every time ive seen him he has always seemed like a 'sidways passer' kind of player i hate to watch. like a rugby player never passing a foward ball!!

Never let the work experience guy print the numbers

Great goal by U-R-Gay though and they started to lose the plot slightly in the second half

LOL was it me but when they were all kicking off in the second half and they Uraguain pushing the ref about they just played on to the bemused referee thinking ohh **** it let it go...lol Looked that way.

3 good goals although I think we only won it in the end because Uraguay had sort of given up and lost concentration.

Watched him play in the Champions League against Juventus last year, he was very impressive down the right. up and down like a jack rabbit full of energy bursting past full backs and getting ***** in the box etc....

Boring first half but they played really well in the second half. Maybe Crouch will put an end to all the abuse he gets now!

Very funny when he stood up against Uraguay!!
