big signing for us. this guy "could" be as good/better than rooney, and as marketable/popular as beckham. listening to the experts they do say he's the next big thing, similar in potential to rooney at 16. we'll see, but that's the only way we can get these types, as in 2 years he'll be worth £30m and then only manure and chelski could afford him

Fact is he's going to not see first team football again except for a couple of cup apperances. Rooney was brought through at Everton who didn't have the class of player Arsenal do. It will be tough for him I think at first but he made the right choice not choosing Chelski

Wenger has said already that he will be playing in the first team within a couple of weeks after he comes back from his holiday. That doesn't surprise me as Reyes has been hopeless as a striker although of late his cutting passes have been top quality so Reyes could end up back on the wing. Sadly Bergkamps time is up and Van Persie is really the only other top drawer striker we have. I can see Walcott becoming Henry's strike partner very quickly as 2 players with lighning pace and the way we counter attack will be very entertaining to see. Reyes and Van Persie who are also quick I think will be used more as wingers to be the next replacements for Pires and Ljungberg who are prone to a lot of injuries now.
And yes Pennant was supposed to be a major prospect along with Jerome Thomas before he was also sold off. I thought neither of those young talents were given the chances they deserved but Pennant was bad news off the field and not good for the team. And to be honest if I had a choice now of Jerome Thomas and Pennant in the team or Van Persie and Reyes then the latter pair would always get picked first.

I just hope he is as thick as Rooney because now the press will build him up beyond all belief! Rooney doesn't seem to feel it or is too stupid to let it bother him.... Unfair to compare him to Henry or Rooney though. I don't want Arsenal to do well in all honesty but I love to see world class English players

I hate Rooney with a passion but I can't deny he is world class and the best England player for a long time. Just think though IF Walcott does live up to his prospects having Rooneys skill and power and Walcott's pace up front the England attacking line up will be a very strong one.
