Bafta's for footballers in Portugal
Just watching the Portuguese football on channel 5 and what a disgrace some of them are. I used to think the South American teams were bad but this is terrible. They fall over at the slightest touch & writhe about for 5 mins. I'd be ashamed if my team played like that. It's all very well to say others do it but its embarrasing to watch. Not even yellow cards given for this or the diving.

A lot of football these days isn't worth watching for the blatant conning of the ref that's going on.
I watch some of the Spanish and Italian games, and also the Champions League, and quite often turn it off (especially the Italian stuff) cos of the diving that goes on. It seems like the foreigners are trained to fall over at the smallest sign of contact. International football is the worst.
It's even started to surface in the English Premier League, which will be to the detriment of the game in this country IMO
Fifa need to get video's of examples of blatant diving that resulted in free kicks, have all the top ref's in a room, and show them what a mess they're turning football into, by allowing themselves to be conned by these cheats.

The amount of diving going on in the game, IMHO is getting ridiculos. It needs clamping down on. OK the Portugese are arguably the worst (eg Porto v United last season) but it also goes on here which, as said before is a pity (wimpy Reyes, take note). Players are supposed to be booked for play acting IIRC, but the ref's dont bother. A player diving can ruin a game as it disrupts the continuity if the ref is blowing every few minutes for a foul.
It's about time it gets clamped down on before it gets too out of hand.

"Cristiano has fantastic potential," said Ferguson. "He is a player with great courage and the first thing he always thinks when he gets the ball is how to attack defenders.
"We are very pleased with the progress he is making but we cannot forget he is only a kid.
"The part we really wanted to add to his game was him not overplaying things to get fouls.
"He has improved in that area because he has learned from the other players about the way we are here. He has matured. No matter how many fouls he gets he keeps going."
