Thought I'd drag this one up from the depths

Has anyone had a Scott Project Endorphin? - the carbon/thermoplastic mtb one?
I'm sure there was someone selling one on here last year

I'm just wondering, as there's a shop near me that's selling one for about £100, as they said, the guy's got more money than sense, & now has something else.

I remember them being around £1k when they were released a few years ago, but are they any good?
I'm not completely sure it's what I was after, but I wanted a frame upgrade for my trek - was looking mostly at the Identiti Dr Jekyll (maybe), Merlin (is it the malt 3?, I think), and various other XC/Freeride sort of bikes...

Any ideas?

stumpjumper prolly rather basic 4 yer - ive only orange steel p7 heavy .....I think KHS would be way to go -hardtail - here on the downs

Carbon is Cool
I've Had one there great, light and strong. Mine was fine but a friend had a 2001 frame and it failed. Check it for cracks where the rear arms 'lower brace' meets the seat-tube.
I know of another one that was driven over by an artic, and was scrapped because one of the inserted rear brake bosses snapped off flush to the frame. incidently the rider survived (remarkably).

If you want a 2002 scott team issue strike frame I've got one for 600 ono, now that is a cool frame!!

I spoke to Scott about those cracks, and they tell me it's not a problem with the actual frame - the cracks are part of the 'paint', or whatever they call it. Thank God for that
I haven't given it much abuse yet, but I'll probably get around to it this weekend....and pray that it doesn't snap in half

You know I'd buy it, but I have neither money nor space, and I'm thinking either a road bike or a DH bike'll be next

I like the Stumpjumper. That was another possibility, as it happens, but I couldn't find one, and that Scott frame seemed ridiculously cheap, so I went for it....

Looks nice...but I don't know that it's the most useful bike to have at the moment, as I currently have no car. Maybe a road bike first?

OK shopping time
I have at present a Canondale M600 fitted with LX, a set pf Pace RC36 evo 2's and other carbon bittys to boot.
I have just been informed by a mate that he may be selling his Spesh rockhopper comp disk wich is standard with the exception of the pedals.
Now I am aware that it is best to judge a bike on the ride and how it feels to you however I would like your opinion. Sitting side by side which one would you pick ?

I'd go for the Cannondale. Those forks are bloody nice as well - and they're worth about 400 quid, probably carbon, if they're the ones I'm thinking of.

The rockhopper is a nice bike - I've ridden the normal (non-disc) one, which now has all the same bits as the one you're looking at - good, but nothing 'special' I don't think it's as nice as the Cannondale though. Go and see it, and you'll know what I mean. Worth it for those welds on the frame alone....

Be careful of the Scott swing arms. While I was working at the shop we had 5 out of 6 2003 Scott bikes come back with a crack in precisely the same point. Scott were brilliant and replaced 'em asap, but something to be aware of.

I bought a Cove G-Spot FR cos the name was funny!

I've found its much nicer to ride everywhere compared to my Intense Tracer and Specialised M4 I had before it.

Rides really well up the hills but hammers down them and over big stuff like nothing else.
