Agreed, they still have to be favourites but England will be in with a sniff
Its been a long journey for England to dislodge NZ and Aus let us have our moment in the sun and hoipefully a World Cup soon after.

I think England are right up there with a good chance of winning the Cup. I am a half-English Kiwi so I hope England do well, but not too well! They thoroughly deserve to be ranked number one in the world - they have after all just won the 6 nations, and beaten the reigning Trinations champions. SHould be a great tournament coming up

If New Zealand win the World Cup, or the Aussies do, do they automatically jump to the top of the table in terms of world ranking?
I ask because over recent months, England have beaten pretty much everyone in the world of rugby, and are now among the favourites to win the cup too, but if they don't, will everyone start to say that they weren't the best afterall?
If you look at football, Manchester Utd won the Premiership, which is a fair representation of their ability over a season, but they didn't win the FA Cup, as in a competition, anything can happen. So does that mean they aren't the best overall? I don't agree. A league is the best way to determine who is best.
I'm looking forward to the Cup, same as every other rugby fan, but the top teams are so close in their abilities now, that all it will take is for one player on one side to have a good day, and for one on the opposition to have a poor performance, and that's it. Game over.
Still, I have to admit, for an Englishman, I'm proud that we have a sport in which we can honestly say, at present, we are the best in the world. Makes a change!

Aussie's must be shell shocked after that loss ..That match really proves how good England played down under
One thing that came out of that match, the Aussie's reign as world champions will be over soon

Will definetly be a England vs. New Zealand final now, unless something goes horribly wrong from now until then. John Mitchell's journey is now most definetly underway
