Duff, player of the year? I thought he had a pretty average season myself after a decent WC.

Ruud is without question my player of the season. The vote takes place far too early.

Young player of the season has to be between Rooney, O'Shea and, as you say, Defoe.

Swin - its based on his contributions when he hasnt been injured he has been excellant when fit, a close run thing with Harry Kewell who was back to his best this season. I was never going to give it to that luxury player Henry now was I

As for Rooney, yeah we all know he has something special but he has hardly started many games so he cant be in the running with players like O'Shea and Defoe who have been excellant all season especially O'Shea, the republic are sorted for the next 10 years for a centre half or anywhere else at the back or even the middle!!

Fair play South-star, it's nice to see a Scouser giving credit to a United player where it's due.

Agree to an extent about Rooney Funki, but look at some of his goals (the last minute screamer to beat Arsenal for one! ). The last minute winner a week ago... Yes, he hasn't started as many games but, for 17 years of age, he has been exceptional.

Look at his performance for England. Incredible.

As for O'Shea, if I had opted straight for him then some people may have accused me of being slightly biased...

Gotta agree with Mike - Rooney is no doubt a talented player for the future but he hasnt done as much as the rest. He doesnt play regular football, has hardly scored any goals and is very petulant.

It's got to be Horse Face. Amazing season.

Viduka for Leeds and his 13 goals in the last 9 games to help keep my underachieving wasters in the Prem.

Thumbs up

However I disagree with some of the comments made about Rooney, I mean the guy is 17 for crying out loud. He hasn't played a lot of first team football and yet he demonstrated what he can do at international level with limited starts with Everton. He was sensational for his first full England match playing like he was a regular.
Exactly the point I'm trying to make. He may not have played as often as some others but, for his age, he has simply been exceptional.

I do actually agree that Rooney has been exceptional when played and will go on to be a great player without doubt.

I was just looking at the overall picture for YP of the year and thought the others deserved it based on their full seasons, compared to waynes bit parts. also agree with the points about Jenas I remember when he was at Notts F and I stuck him in my Sun dream team this season and he certainly did the business getting a few goals and man of the matches, we certainly do have some good youngsters in this country and with them playing at the high level of the Prem with and against some quality foreign imports they can only learn and improve, lets hope we have an England manager who can manage and nurture these kids

Also Impressed with
Scott Parker (ex macdonalds)
Freidel
Okocha
Dugarry - this guy should have been here two years ago a quality player
Barry - leave now if you want your england place back
Gallas
Cudicini
Henry - when the **** were playing well he was awesome but a swallow doesnt make a summer

There have been a lot of good players about this year roll on next season

player of the year - henry. scores as much as most, but also set up 14 prem goals this season. Ruud's a quality striker but with the type of service he gets, my gran would bag 10 a season.

the player who got young player of the year deseved the award. jenas has gone from playing div 1 football to full england cap regular first team premier league football at the tender age of 20. going to be a little controversial now but what has rooney done, yes he`s very tallented but has`nt done a geat deal, he`s not playing regular, coming on as a sub. i think the press have hyped him up, into the england squad

I agree that Jenas was the right choice for young player of the year because he has had a fantastic season playing regular football.
However I disagree with some of the comments made about Rooney, I mean the guy is 17 for crying out loud. He hasn't played a lot of first team football and yet he demonstrated what he can do at international level with limited starts with Everton. He was sensational for his first full England match playing like he was a regular.
Don't forget here Jenus is 3 years older that's a lot more experience than Rooney.

My choices:
Player of the Year - Van Nistlerooy
Young player - Jenus
