Absolutely Shocking!
The entire team played like they were defending a one goal lead, rather than trying to reverse one!
The number ogf times Scholes, Butt & Campbell passed the ball back rather than sticking it into the box was unbelievable. Why couldn't they have displayed a bit of the fighting spirit displayed by the Irish
It's official, England are the New Italy

How quick the backlash starts... How many "fans" will come crawling out of the woodwork saying "I knew they were **** all along?"
FFS
*sigh* This attitude really depresses me. I think the boys done good, but ultimately were playing a better team.
Does that make them pathetic? Does it bollox.
Get a sense of reality: it was a good game, and England just couldn't make the break due to Brazilian coverage of any space, even with Brazil down to 10 men. That tells you something about both teams, and it isn't that England are "pathetic".

i agree with chris. we came all this way and played like f*cking idiots. if we had played half as well as when we met argetina we could have won it easily.
i know long ***** dont always work but we used them up to the 80th minute and when we really needed them, tried to pass it to the goal. not one shot on target in the whole second half.

Dunk, defending against what was going to be a cross, not a shot on goal.
One of the best free kicks I've seen. Absolutely bang into the top corner of the goal, dipping and curving - bloody nightmare to defend against.

I'm with Little Miss WRX - The better team won - fair and simple - Ronaldinhio should never have been sent off - but Brazil played fantastic football before & After.

Nick - World class keepers need to be more open minded than that. And besides he was close enough to have been able to tip it over the bar. He's done it numerous times over the course of this world cup, but this once (maybe due to his knock on his back) he failed to do so. The keeper should always have been near that back post and on the line.

Now, now lets not go there....
Just how many times did Beckham dive in the box????
LOL.....
Come on 'Chelle, accept defeat with honour

...and to balance the view, Beckham was lucky not to get booked for diving twice in the penalty box.
I do agree it's a shame that Rivaldo has to resort to ungentlemanly conduct. He's a brilliant player, but a complete **** when it comes to playing fair.

Don't talk out of you bum about the Ronaldinho goal. He was too far out to mean to put it in the top corner, although he would probably tell you different himself. It was definitely a mi**** cross. No question.
Agree his sending off was a travesty though. Brazil played a great game when down to 10 men. Too much of our midfield and attack were off the boil - Scholes especially diappointing for me.
England were quite simply not good enough, but let's not get down about it. Have a quick whinge then get on with it.

Well, in my world he meant to do it . Makes me feel better for Seaman, that's all. Sending off - what was that all about then? Referee had a shocking game.
Hansen's cry of "seamen's out, seamen's out" just before the second half did raise quite a few titters around here. How many times has he shouted that in excitement one wonders

I admitted that Brasil played better, is that not accepting defeat gracefully?
Yes, Beckham did two stupid dives that he could have been up and running for the ball again rapidly.
But compared to the dives that Rivaldo was doing, I think England's *cheating* moments were comparitively insignificant.

I abore unsportsman like conduct and I think Rivaldo typified that after he went clutching his nose after being challenged by Sol.
Beckham was playing it close to the edge as well though.
We just could create anything 2nd half. No room to pass through, so endless punting into the box.

I think Beckham's display was in frustration that if Brasil could continuously pull off tricks like that then why shouldn't he? I don't normally defend Beckham as everyone knows but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. He and the England squad played well

England just not good enough! The team lacking some one who can dribble with the ball, could have done with Ryan Giggs but he picked Wales instead, also Steven Gerrard was missed as he would carry the ball forward more!!! oh well we got Euro championship to look forward to, hopefully they will learn from this.

Lets face it we never expected to come this far and we were technically outclassed by Brasil, something for the coaches to work on.
I say well done England you did well and lifted the countrys spirits, but you werent as good as the 1990 side, we could have done with a Waddle or Beardsley out there running at them, teaching them a thing or two,
But what a great feeling when Owen scored, for second or two.......

The disapointing thing really was that we just went with a whimper.
To create no chances against ten men for 35 minutes when you are losing was poor. We needed good performances from key players, unfortunately no one did themselves justice.
Beckham pulled England into the competition with his performances in qualifying, but just couldn't do it today. Owen was anonymous, Scholes and Sinclair were poor. Campbells distribution from the back was attrocious, Mills was good in defense and had plenty of the ball but he can't cross and didn't use the ball well.
Brazil should be applauded for managing to completely shut Englnad out in the Second Half, and this is a team with an allegedly crap defense. Even China created more chances than England did today.
Rivaldo's perfomance against Turkey was a disgrace, but we can't blame todays result on these tactics. We had some luck with the goal and sending off, and some bad luck with their 2nd goal. We just weren't good enough.
Good Luck Brazil for the rest of the Comp.

It's not all doom and gloom. I bet that Brazil would win 2-1 but that England would score first
As for the game, we were outclassed. Simple.
