Is worrying that we still got so little posession ( under 40%?) but we're certainly putting away the chances. Sure to play well against Brazil but can the defensed handle Ronaldo & Rivaldo?! Come on Belgium...

Which goal was not in open play - Heskey's or Owen's. Seems to me that they were both in open play.

So we didn't 'play well'? What tosh. We had chances, we created chances and we took chances. We defended well and we didn't give the ball away as much as we didagainst Sweden. We had some smooth interchanges. I thought we did play well and we did string passes together. You don't see 10-15 pass moves often in international football especially on a pitch as wet as that one. That doesn't mean we didn't play well. We were strong, assured and clinical in our finishing. Some players showed cleverness particularyl in dangerous positions. Instead of whipping in crosses, they passed it to the edge of the box (Sinclair to Butt for example).

I thought we played well. We should not confuse free-flowing football, many pass moves with playing well. Same with Nigeria. We did the job. Also, when you're 3-0 up, your attitude to the game changes.

We are unbeaten in WC and played reasonably well today and still won 3-0,so when we really start playing ,they all should watchout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This just p**** me right off. What have they got to do? Win every game 10-0??? Sven obviously has a game plan. When you are three up at half time and you've outclassed the opposition, you don't go chasing a game to score more goals when it makes no difference. Can't we be proud of what they have achieved and be positive instead of always doing the English things of looking for the negatives?

Me happy too........Becks is getting better each game,the defence is looking really solid,Butt and Scholes playing well,and Owen got a penalty and a goal

Also only conceded one goal.............i'm sure we'd have taken it before the world cup started.

Exactly!............I'm proud of the lads........what an achievement!

I was thinking back to 4 years ago and I remember that the attitude now is totally different from what it was then........I made the comment that this time around the whole country seems to be in high spirits(jubilee) and are really getting behind the lads and not slating them.........but there still seems to be some people that are never satisfied!!!!........shame really because if we do lose to Brazil I will still be a very proud man.

Ok, England won,
we had less than 40% posession, now thats not good, we scored 3 goals through a defence that had more holes in it than a siv, our game play was clinical but not prefect and as ive said, if we dont pull our fingers out when or if we meet a country like Brazil, who i think are just not a good side anymore but have good players, we will get are asses whooped big style.
Our game still needs work, we had an average game against a side that was nervous of us (even Peter S whos danish said they looked nervous before kickoff) but im still happy that we won but not very confident at the way we are playing just now

How many goals have conceded....1.....joint least with Germany and S.Korea.
How many games have we lost?.......0
How many games have we won......2

We have scored 5 and conceded only 1

Brazil have one of the worst defenses to ever grace the world cup scene and our defence has rhe credentials to keep tabs on their strikeforce.

We haven't played brilliantly yet we have "easily" made it through to the Q.Finals........Explain?

Apart from the home nations we have the biggest support there.
We have players that can turn a game in an instance.

What makes you think we'll get battered by Brazil........have you been wathching their games?

Brazil vs Turkey.........lucky to win with a penalty that shouldn't have been
Brazil vs China................China.....enough said
Brazil vs Costa Rica.......Costa Rica could and should have scored 7.

I think we can beat Brazil and I have no idea why some people are never satisfied

As one of the moaners in the previous games, I feel I must say I am a bit happier this game, 3-0 is good by me, I think their keeper was very poor,
Our players are some of the most highly paid in the world so why don't they start playing like it (Emile Heskey) after all we were only playing against minor premiership players
I am happy with the result but am also a realist

Just a little question to all those negative doubters out there:

Would you be bothered/worried/annoyed if we played badly in the World Cup Final and still beat Germany 3-0?...........I didn't think so..........at the final whistle a win is a win!!!!!

Reading this thread you would think we had won on penalties ! ! (or lost)
We played in just the right way - built on our lead to bury the opposition and then kept a clean sheet.
If we keep a clean sheet against Brazil/Belgium we will win.
Remember that's how the Italians do it and they have not exactly been unsuccessful in the past.

I am questioning how England played.

I am as pleased as any one esle with the result, I just feel if we give that sort of possetion (sp) to the Brazilians it may not be so easy.
