Default England v Sri Lanka

Time for the proper cricket to start now all this pyjama ball chucking nonsense is over and done with.

We've fallen from grace so far that I hold out no hopes for this series

I just hope we can rebuild and start afresh.

Robson was a good choice WTF are they doing with the team selection - Robson, Ballance and Ali? The selectors need de-selecting, handing 3 debuts in an opening test match FFS. 1 debut yes, not 3.

I get the impression they don't care about these 2 tests and they are for giving debuts and seeing how they get on ready for the 5 tests against India.

This must be the weakest batting line up i've seen.

Edit - normal service has resumed, 22-2 on a dry flat batting pitch with the sun shining

Well that was an unexpected recovery, really need to build on it without throwing their wickets away in the first session tomorrow. How lucky was Prior

I may need to amend that statement

At 209-5 i'd never have wagered on a total of 575. Well done Root and the middle and lower order

Giving Sangakara 4 lives was ridiculous, one of which was unexplainable by Prior, just embarrasing. Perhaps he should concentrate on the ball being in the gloves before trying to throw the ball up in celebration

However i'd have taken that score at the beginning of the day with a good bowling display so lets see how the top order fairs tomorrow before getting too pleased

When are our players going to learn to catch a fecking cricket ball FFS. Inexcusable at this level.

They have thrown this game away with giving Sri Lanka so many chances. Who wants to place a bet on England managing over 200 runs in the 4th innings?

As for Cook's captaincy just how long are we going to have to suffer his utter lack of tactical understanding of how games are playing out. He is an utterly useless captain.

I think Cook will be gone tomorrow evening, giving them time to find his replacement for the India series, sadly I cant see any natural captain in this current squad.....

I knew they would do badly in the 4th innings but I hadn't seen 57-5 coming

Cook has to go and hopefully he can get some form with the bat back as being captain has ruined his game and tactically he hasn't got a clue. If they don't replace him then FFS give him an ear piece straight through to Strauss in the commentary box who can tell him what to do!
