Repair shop in the Bucks area - WARNING
Normally I don't bother ranting and I will try not too here, but if I do, please excuse me.
I hail from Bourne End and am attending the Uxbridge Auto Show this year. As a treat I was given some cash by SWMBO to have some cosmetic work done on the Scooby.
I sourced a local firm, paid them a visit, saw some of the work in progress and booked the Scooby in.
Simple jobs:
Stone chips on bonnet
Scuff on front splitter
2 small cracks in paintwork on spoiler
Oh and whilst your at it all 4 corners refurbished.
I explained that the car was not my 'daily runner' but that I would need it back prior to the 14th July as I was attending a car show and that's why the car was with them.
In order they took their time and made a good job it was agreed they would have the car towards the end of May/beginning of June.
Chatting with a fellow owner one evening, told him where the car was and what I was having done when the phone line went very quiet. "DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR CAR" I was the treated to some photo's via email of their 'workmanship'.
Now I realise at this point I should have called the repair shop and told them not to bother, I didn't, I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE
Driving through the village on the way to work one morning I spot my car sat in a locked compound, no spoiler and the half the front bumper and splitter in primer. It stayed like that for nearly 4 weeks, not moving. Whenever I called in or phoned the guys were really busy and work (I was told) on my car was progressing nicely.
Monday gone I get a call, apparently my car has been vandalised. The rear spoiler and front bumper have been stolen!
Upon inspecting the car I note that:
All the loom connections to things like indicators and fog lights are intact.
The headlights are intact and still bolted to the bodywork.
The boot lid has no damage to it whatsoever
My DEFI's are still where they should be as is my head unit
He claims to have reported the incident to the police but cannot find the crime reference number.
The repairer then informs me he is not insured to keep cars overnight and additionally the damage is not his responsibility as he has signs up stating vehicles are left with them at the owners’ risk. He has asked me to pay a considerable amount of money towards the repair of my vehicle. Because I am convinced that if I threaten the guy with court proceedings my car will not be repaired or released into my care I have, after discussion with a solicitor and the dti agreed to pay him the extortionate amount he has requested under duress.
As soon as the car is back in my possession I will be taking legal action against this company.
I believe the job was f*&ked up and in order they save face/money they've spun this yarn.
In closing,
THERE IS A REPAIR CENTER IN THE HIGH WYCOMBE AREA THAT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED LOOSE NEAR CARS WITH A BUCKET AND SPONGE, LET ALONE BE ALLOWED TO CARRY OUT REPAIRS.
IF ANYONE IS THINKING OF USING A REPAIRER IN THE WYCOMBE/WOOBURN/BOURNE END AREA PLEASE PM ME FIRST, I WOULD HATE TO SEE ANYONE ELSE SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THESE *****.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks for the messages of support, however, I must stress, I've not posted this looking for sympathy, I honestly DO NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO PUT THEIR CAR IN THIS OUTFITS CARE.

Hey mate,
Sorry about the bad news.
Shall we all go down in mass and show them what they are messing with? Am sure they won't do it again when they the might of Scoobynet!
Would like to know the details and then will never recommend my friends to go there.
If there is anything I can do to help then let me know (ie baseball bat.......)

I've had a repair from Alexanders in Bourne End and they were fine - repaired and returned the same day. Not them is it? PM me if necessary.
Autodex in Slough leave much to be desired.

Sorry to here about this rob make sure thay don't sell you your old parts back.
Will you no them if you see them m8.
I ask'd my body shop about this they said you have to be able to keep cars on site.
And its the body shop's responce to pay for the stuff that has been taken.
He has said that if you want the work done there he will right you a report of what the parts cost and that there was no way that they where rip'd of the car.
He will allso give you a discount for cash but put the full price on the sheet.
Cant we all go down there and sit on the road out side and have a meet.
After all will not be against the law we have road tax .
We can turn the heat up abit on him.

Sean (or is it Shaun?)
YHPM
I have been told the car will be ready for collection on the 10th July (2006).
I'll be posting details here and in SOX of a mini meet on that day for anyone interested

I cant imagine how frustrated and angry you must be feeling... if anything like that happended to my baby, and my car is just that, I'd go f***in spare!!!
If anyone is looking for a proper pukka work shop for any of their painting or repairs or body mods inc. kits etc I have a top man that does anything you want or need.
Might be a bit far for some, but hes well worth the drive!
Location Edgware, HA8. Very reasonable on prices and by far the best I've come across in the many years of modding cars.
PM me if interested.

Can you let me know who it was via PM? I would want to hope I avoid them. On a positive note I used Fieldhouse & Husbands in Dunstable (just over the border) to respray and refit my spoiler and they did a superb job.
