Who's put 18's on their P1 ???
#1
I am thinking of putting the 18" wheels on my P1 in the new year, and upgrading to the Prodive brake kit. So is it worth it and what did you do with your old wheels???

I have them and I believe they improve the ride, give you extra grip in the dry, and look better.
On the brakes get the AP 6 pots. I got them for the same amount and trust they are better.

I second what Roberto says.
I've found exactly the same. Upgrading the brakes is a must as the standard ones will look miniscule with the 18" wheels.
If you go for the Prodrive brakes, ensure that they are supplied with DS2000 pads. If you get the DS3000 pads, the brake dust they give off will destroy your wheels and eat the disks within 9000 miles.
Go for the wheels - they are the mutts nutts!

Don't really look the same, the 6 pots look just as good.
BUT, if you shop around you will get the 6 pot kit for the same price (you get a complete kit - not true with the prodive kit). And the 6 pots are (in my Opinion) a better kit. The only down side is that they are not a prodrive part (is this a down side???), just keep the originals just in case.

I like the idea of Prodrive brakes with the DS3000 pads suggested by Kurtw. What did you do with your 17's and what are they worth? I have only 2.5k on mine and they are mint, anyone know someone who may be interested if i go ahead with this?

Wacko,
If I'm correct you're about 800 yds from me, if you want to see the 18's and the 6 pot AP's I'll meet you on St. Michael's Mead or come round to me.
When you reply I'll give you directions.
Cheers,
Andrew

NB:
AP 6 pots = £1499 + £90 fitting + VAT.
Prodrive = £ 1535 - 10% (£1381.50) + £90.00 fitting INC VAT.
Certainly not cheaper than the prodrive kit.
Also, both kits have 330mm disks, so you pays your money............
All in all, we're all individual, with our own opinions, that's why we drive Scoobs, beacuse they're so easy to individualise.

Wacko. My personal opinion is that the car doesn't seem to have as much grip on wet or slippery roads with the 18" wheels as it did with the 17"s,however it is definitely better in the dry,so my advice would be to keep both and change them from summer to winter. As for the brakes! The standard kit is adequate for road use but they will fade if you subject them to a lot of hard use in quick succession,ie track days etc, I've got the pads that do chuck out a lot of crap and yes they are a real pain!
