Well, it was certainly fun while it lasted, even if I was brought up short somewhat earlier than expected.

Glad the rest of you made it (allegedly), and thanks a million to Paul, Chunky and Kris for help and support. Paul; good luck with that engine, mate.

Tip for future tourists; the Ide Green Tea Rooms do a great cup of coffee for those in need!!

Hope to be back on the next one, but might run slicks next time for a giggle . Kris; if this is becoming a habit, can you get a discount on a support van?

Tell us about the A-Class, James!

BJH (getting over it slowly )

Edit; hey, this is my 100th post! Do I get a telegram from the Queen??

Cool

Well, an exciting one this.....Probably the most ` Interesting` run I`ve organised...

... Will they make this bend in the wet???

... Will James hit the Mercedes clean on the nose

...And one Sti engine that didnt like getting up early in the morning !!!

Just to let you know you guys .....and you know who you are , we had one minutes silence at the cafe in respect of :

1. One big end ( ouch )
2. One lower wishbone ( muddy )
3. One Mercedes kerbed wheel

To sum up we had a wicked day. Some of us thought we were driving on the continent and it took a little reminder ( in the shape of a Mercedes A class ) to tell us otherwise!! Leaves and wet roads saw the demise of another participant although I`m not sure if it was the two cars in front, one going straight on and another making the right turn causing mass confusion to those following !!!!

On the whole a super day with many great like minded people turning up. A great breakfast followed by more excellent roads to stretch the scooby`s legs.

Thanks to everyone who turned up, it was truly a memorable occassion and fantastic to see you all.

Lord Lucan.......I will have the results you require tommorrow as I will take it to work with me ...cheers for that.

K & N ( C-n-B )

P.S. I will put the AA on standby for the next one!!!!

Don't beleive my luck, engine coming out for the 3rd time - 2nd big end!!!!
Just going to stick a new block in this time.
Still, managed a laugh explaining where I was to the AA lady - she asked for nearest landmark such as pub/niteclub (in Ide Hill)!!!! Just my luck that it was near 'The **** Inn' - and she asked me to spell it!!
Good to have company (in the name of Brendan) who also came to an early end. I'll e-mail you when Chunk gets me the phone no. for the salvage yard. Hope you got home OK.

Car was going really well too (wasn't it James!) Wouldn't have minded so much if it had happened at the end but within the first 6 miles!? Hope your meeting with the Merc wasn't too expensive James.

Seems like the Clang-n-Ball is getting as expensive as track days now.

Thanks for the sticker Kris and the minutes silence. Noticed your brake lights weren't working going down pole hill

Martin - how were the six pots? Hope you enjoyed the rest of the day - see you soon!

:O And there was me trying to forget about it !

Oh well **** happens! I went back and videod the bend. The roadwork's sign was situated at the beginning of the bend (behind a bush ), the temp traffic light sign was after the bend, by which time the lights were visible along with the brake lights of the P1 ! Unfortunately this was in a 60 limit just after a 30 limit so I was flat in 3rd:O.

The respective council and road contractors will be getting a very nice phone call at 9am .

I'll keep you informed............???

Brendan - Sorry to hear about the off, hope all is well soon! That's always been a ba@@ard of a bend !

Paul - What a day! Hope the lump heals soon!

Even so still had a good burn, on some very slippery roads, with some very deep puddles! See you all soon

No more upgrades either as I'm getting it in the ear at home, if you know what I mean!!

At least I know the AP's perform well
Kris

Thanks Again

Yup, remember that bend well! I agree with what you say James, the sign was very close to the roadworks. I only slowed coz the radar detector picked up the X-Band from the lights on the roadworks.

That's the second time that its saved me that way.

Brilliant day out, thanks Kris, look forward to the next one!

Well, you all doubted I'd be there for the whole run, but I was.

Brendan, good to have met you, sorry about the accident though.

Was much fun, though I think I might stick right at the back until summer as the roads are just way to slippery for me (no ABS, and small ***** )

Did have fun though, and the food was great.

Good to meet all of you as well. Did not know that Kris had a wagon, which made me feel really proud (wagon owners unite!).

BTW - Kris, what mods you done to your wagon? just want to know so maybe I can get the black beast to keep up with the 'progressive' types up front.

Can't wait until the next one.

Oh, nearly forgot. Thanks to Kim and Dom for staying in front of me, and knowing where the hell they are going.

p.s How the hell did you find the cafe? it's in the middle of nowhere.

Cheers to Kris for organising the whole sheebang (our Clanger kept flying off the dash and singing during every sharp bend!).

Brendan and Paul - hope all gets sorted okay for both of your cars and we see you soon.

Markus - nice one matey, no more doubts!

Dom - last time I let you have eggs and beans and be my passenger

Hi

LordLucan - Only if it detects Traffic lights...... ...!

James

Drove an S2000 last night on the lanes! WOW! would swap it for the WRX tommorow if i could fit in it properly ....

What a car though shift light flashs on the righthand side of the dash at 8500 rpm and then a bright red light blares at you on the left hand side when you have to change at 9000rpm I want one now

Heres a copy of most of the e mail I sent Jase about the BELL 980 which I took to work with me to test.....

I took it to work today and I`m sorry to say the results were
pretty poor considering the ££££`s you have spent.

Briefly, it failed to detect LASER whatsoever unless the laser was
targetted directly at the device. This wont happen because laser is
light and there is no reflection from the windscreen hence no reading.
The cops will alway target your front number plate or bonnet. Even at
just under a kilometer the beam is only the width of a tennis ball give
or take so unless you have it strapped to your plate your knackered.
Also I found that even when the device picked LASER up I had already got
a speed reading before the brakes could be applied. The laser takes .2
of a second to get a hit ....thats not much time to recognise the alert
and then take off 15-20 mph min.
It picked up the muniquip no probs. I didnt even get out of the
office and the device went nuts.I wasnt even pointing it at the car !!!!
HOWEVER this speed detection gun is very old hat and is never used.

Gatso`s were picked up with varying degrees of strength some not at
all until going over the white calibration lines when the machine went
nuts BUT its too late then.

I think your main problem is LASER because they can get you from a
mile away and its the big speeds that will get you the ban and in
serious trouble Unfortunately the BELL dont do particularly well in this
case.... sorry

Still an interesting experiment that is still ongoing.....I`ll let you
know.

JASE...I hope you didnt mind me copying this over.

Kris; I'd be curious to know those results, even by email if you can't post them here.

James; can I borrow that video? If it worked for you, it might work for me!

Otherwise, generally p'd off; gales just blew my bedroom window frame in last night. Most expensive Sunday I've had for quite some time

KimA; corks are cheap!!
