Would people in and around Oxfordshire be up for it?

Guys
I have just acquired a pub in Oxfordshire and was thinking of hosting a summer SIDC event.
I hope it will be on a Sunday in late August and will incorporate:
Meeting at 3 or so followed by an afternoon drive if people want it on roads I will rec before hand.
An evening barbeque and events.
I was going to run big screen GT and CMR with prizes.
I was going to show scooby footage in the bar.
I am open to more ideas.
I don't know what date yet, however, it would be good if I know how many might be up for it.
Can you post if interested.
Cheers
Paul

I'm sure there will be sufficient reasonably prices beverages for the subaru enthusiast to purchase on the day.
Nice to have you on board - I will post details if there is more interest.
Where are you travelling up from?
It is the type of thing were people could arrange to drop cars home before the evening and get back to the pub by sharing cars etc to utilise the service offering of the pub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could do a drop off late in the evening.

I'd be up for it if it was a Saturday instead, book a dodgy Travel Inn nearby and make it a dirty weekend for me and the little woman. ;-)
Then we could get hammered too and not have to worry about getting back home and to work on Monday!
Cheers

Oh no it had to happen....a Scooby loony buys a pub
I'll be interested in coming up for that, doesn't matter which day as my wife is teatotal and is used to driving me home.
Reidy - if you contact Dick and his wife at the SIDC they will help organise the event if you need it, and I believe have the ability to make a donation towards the cost of an 'official' event.
Looking forward to it

Paul,
it's a big place is Oxfordshire (with a heck of a lot of Gatsos ).
Where abouts on the clock face from Oxford is your (new) pub? North or East would be good for me (From Brum) - but don't worry, i am not suggesting your change pubs just for me!!

The pub is near Abingdon. Will look into cheap places to stay closer to the time. There is a travelodge closeby from memory so no real worries on that score.
Cheers for the help, don't know if this event will make it into the 'official' category as the pub is big enough for only 40 or 50 people, but thanks for the advice.
Will be able make a night of it on the Sat and do a Sunday lunch/drive etc. if there is the demand.
Boomer, I agree, lots of Gatsos, lots of nice roads and scenery as well though. I will scope all that out well in advance don't worry.
This could be a real laugh, pity I'll have to work bits and pieces of the night.

Pub is not opening until 11/12 August as it needs some work so don't pop in expecting to see me before then.
I ain't posted the details yet of where it is anyway - wasn't going to post unless real interest - I can organise via e-mail if it only a small group and not run the risk of the car going missing.

shame it's not open until aug as I to am on the airfield on the 24th and it would have been a good place to wind down afterwards, swop tales of the days events and maybe get a bite to eat while letting the rush hour traffic go on its merry way.
if not suitable at your pub, any suggestions for other establishments and any one else keen on the idea?

Looks like being a Saturday night then, I guess it makes sense.
I will start a new thread closer to the time with all of the details, but keep the 2nd of September free as a preliminary date.
I will not recommend any of the competition to you for the 24th, however, for a good place to wind down in the area try Blewberry, a little village 15 mins from Abingdon. There is a Blewberry Inn that serves a good French style menu - it is a nice location as well. Unfortunately I can't do the 24th.
Nobody has posted any other ideas for the evening entertainment yet. This surprises me as it is not an arena where people hold back normally!, I can only assume that playstation on the big screen is appealing enough in part of the bar!
I look forward to meeting you all, some of you I have met before.
As I said, keep the 2nd free and I will post details in the future, maps, etc, etc.
LOL

Alright Ian.
Kev,
When you say family thing...
Everyone is welcome of course, it is a country style food pub, obviously kids are not allowed in the bar (license regulations) unless eating, but there are gardens to the back etc... Hope this helps.
If you need more e-mail me.

Sounds good to me! Definitely be up for a meet at some stage. Is there anyone else out there from Warwickshire who might like to meet up sooner/later on a more regular basis. There are loads of Scoobys floating around, so there must be some of you out there. Let me know
