SBO - facts, figures and thanks..
338 cars (330 of which were Subaru's) - this is my best estimation based on the number of tickets that were left.
approx 900 people
Monies raised for charities - £603.71 - to be split between the National Autistic Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
I am still trying to negotiate with Beale Park about the 2nd field that I booked that must have had all of 15 cars in it. If I can get them to play ball then the profit will rise above the figure quoted as each field was £500 + VAT. I will keep you all posted on the final figure.
I have learned a lot from the day. It was actually all a bit hectic for me and I don't think I had more than about 2 minutes for anyone - I wish I'd had more time. I had some great raffle prizes but didn't sell enough tickets. I wasn't aware until it was too late that other groups were actively selling raffle tickets on the day. I think as the organiser that has to bear the costs for the event (£2k+) then raffle tickets are a good way of increasing revenue - with better planning I believe I could have raised £1000 and not just £250 in raffle sales. Therefore in the future there will be restrictions on raffle ticket sales from other groups.
I would like to thank the following for all their hard work and assistance prior to the event and on the day - Paul Hooker (website), Mark Chamberlain (flyer design), Kip (trophies) and John Astley and Keith Rudrum for helping out on the day.
All in all I think the day was a huge success for all who attended and myself as the organiser. Without all of you and the hard work and effort you all put in then it wouldn't have been a success.
Thanks
Terry
Roll on 2006 - that's all I will say for now...

Well done Mate - a fine effort all round. Subarman said it was one of the best one-day events he's been to!

Well done terry for the SBO
from lordharding and the NBO committee
Similar figures to ourselves with 400 cars and we raised £3500 on the day as we had the field FOC
Next year it will be easier as you have got the basics in place and being organiser of such an event is for life as the scooby followers will NOT LET YOU QUIT !!!!!!!!
look forward to the competion next year of who is the BIGGEST ????
Any one want to do a Midlands Big One ?? MBO

Terry, there's no way that in my opinion you should be taking ahit like that on any such event, if the intention was to raise money for charity, then fair play... just don't expect me to arrange something and take a 2K hit in the process....... sorry i didn't make it, by all accounts it was a good day.... maybe i'll get there next year!!

Came up from Plymouth and was not dissapointed, a brilliant day out, well organised treat. Amazing what you can do to a scoob, so many variations on a theme. It was great to meet so many scooby enthusiasts from around the country some of which by looking at the cars they drive aka (essex boys) should be very skint now!!
Brilliant to see how much effort was put in to make the day a brilliant success. Thank you everyone looking forward to the next one.
