I've been reliably informed that during the summer months (July & August) large gatherings of top quality motors - i'm talking ferrari's, Porsche's and the odd lambo, meet up in Chelsea (London) to compare ego's, bank balances and talk about fine wines and belgian chocolates.
Anybody fancy having a blat up there one saturday (if these cruises do indeed happen) and putting some flat four hustle to the italian/german muscle?

I too used to attend about 15 yrs ago in my Burton 3.1 Capri Mk2, my first car....
In those days it was at the height of the 50s/60s & 70s American car imports. Very big turn out by the UK cards also, Fords, Rover V8s……
Then the locals were trying to ban as everyone as we parked up in Battersea park entering via the entrance just south of Albert Bridge, some weekend it seemed like thousands of cars. It was an excellent event.
Some of the organisers also used to arrange drive in movies in and around Charlton. They were good fun also…….

wow ... didn't realise it had been going for as long as that! Back in the day eh!!
Right well I am going to go up there to see if this does happen on Saturday 28th June. (being the last saturday in the month of June)
All are welcome to join. Propose to meet at 7:00pm at Thurrock services.
Even if it doesn't happen anymore it will still be a nice drive and a good place to pose!

I think it was 1979 when i went to the chelsea cruise, i went with a mate of mine in his pontiac firebird 440cu.in.
was a great evening, loads of power crazy yank motors, , also loads of police .
cruising at it's best.

RichardC - there will def be more going i'm sure. Us Essex boys are slow off the mark with signing up for posts. As soon as they all think about the tunnels, scantily clad ladies and promise of class motors they will be signing up in droves.

Use to go there with my brother in his Golf GTI MK3 The last one I went to was summer of 1999. Great turn out, they use to open up the park and it cost a fiver to get in and park up. Loads of crowds and then when everyone got thrown out the park, there were huge crowds to watch everyone exit. After this there use to be races over on the cresent side of the park, dangerous, fun, and on until late. The Pigs though shut it down, and have put a load of speed bumps on a few sides of the square everyone cruised round. Anyway just thought I would give a little info and history, definately up for going back up there if it is starting up again. Let me know.

Cheers for the info STi - the way I see it is that London has all the potential for some class cruises but they just don't happen. For one it's busy 24/7 so there are plenty of people around.
Saturday 28th I think is a good night to have a blat up there.
If the Chelsea cruise doesn't happen anymore, I'm up for starting it again.

Hi Guys
I used to go there with the yanks & customs in the early 80's (God I'm old). It does still go on but it's all Nova (Corsa) boys, ICE & neons now according to a friend of mine - would be interested to hear how you get on there though cos if it's half OK I may go up next month.

used to go to the chealsea cruise, not been for about 12 years......belive it was on the last saturday of the month.
so many motors were there last time i went, it was like a 5mph crawl over chelsea bridge-round to albert bridge and back round.
Was loads of nice motors then.......remember rst's were always dominating it. If it's still alive like it was then, its a great event
