Question Which Cat1 alarm

Im going to put a new cat1 on the wifes 1992 impreza,
it needs the old autowatch cat1 removing (faulty)

I know there is a lot of choices,so what im after is a
total closure cat1 alarm.

Upto now iv'e looked at the toad ai606,cobra 4138 and a Clifford 650.

I like the thought of blackjax and stuff but I don't want a big bill

Anyway thoughts and prices, problems etc etc

Also around Merseyside for fitting.

I personally would not touch Cobra again.

I had one that let water in through the main Plug/socket on the unit under the bonnet and corroded the pins and the replacement went off at random.

I think the Alarm that Jeremy Clarkson had fitted to his Ford GT was a Cobra and that kept going off too.

Probably best to make sure the fitter is good at the installation, as thats probably the most important thing.

My import has a cobra, think they where common with the cars imported and sva tested, been on car for ten years and never been a problem. Only thing I changed was the remote case as the original was a bit tatty. Can't fault it really.

Having the same issue guys :\

So what's the best alarm in terms of reliability and longevity for an Impreza STI?

1) Toad Ai606
2) Sigma S30
3) Cobra 4138

Thanks,
Dibs

I would go with the toad out of the three listed, but I would reiterate what other members have posted up already,a clifford alarm is what I would personally get installed if I was looking at a category 1 alarm.SJ.

Hi Jedi! Thanks for your reply. Is there any particular reason for having a Clifford system over a Sigma?
Thanks

You have a 5? That's pretty awesome in itself! Not many left today...

Okay, thanks for the advice - will speak to the installer to see what he can do.
Cheers
