I think both products are well regarded and certainly worth having. I had a deadlock fitted from new and can highly recommend it, it only takes seconds to engage/disengage.

Barrier deadlock is excellent, quick to use and secure. Isn't visable to thieves, other than stickers, so may not deter the initial breakin to the car. I will be having the Barrier deadlock fitted soon, to go with my disklock.

What price has anyone paid, or been quoted?

Dan,
I think it was about £230, fitted at main dealer.

Got my first Scooby today with standard Cat 1 alarm. Deffo want to upgrade security, can someone confirm that the barrier deadlock is the key barrel in the passengers side footwell that when engaged, locks the car in reverse. Is this available at main dealers (!!!), I thought I would have to go Liverpool to get it fitted (Can't remember why). Also can anyone suggest the going rate for a Disklok, need one quick.

Yep, that's a Barrier deadlock, mine was fitted at Days of Chelmsford but by a BD fitter.
As I understood it at the time, they were planning to fit them themselves once trained, mine was the first to be done at this dealer.

Get both.

One highly visible, to deter opportunists.

The BD will **** off the more determined

Thumbs up

Scoobymoo, I've been using both devices on my scooby for 2.5 years. I ALWAYS use both when parking....and even deadlock when refueling with Optimax
Its 2nd nature now so does not take that long to activate/deactivate these devices.
Its extra peace of mind...and IMO its worth the dosh.

Question

But how easy is the standard security to bypass? It sounds to me like it must be **** easy if you need to buy all this other stuff and if so what is the point of the alarm?

Question

scoobymoo,

as a "scientist" i would have thought that you would know!!!

- An alarm (alone) going off in the middle of nowhere will attract no attention - thus no deterrent.

- A Barrier Deadlock will not deter the ignorant crim.

- A DiskLok will not deter the "contents only" thief.

- A tracker will (probably) not work in a lead lined box.

You need multiple devices, depending on your own individual situation (and not publicly known) to increase your safety!!!

Thumbs down

Guys

when I looked at getting the barrier deadlock fitted, Subaru UK told me that it would invalid my warranty as there modification required to the car.

Thanks

Might we worth checking again, I've had several warranty claims done without any trouble.
Can't see it being a problem if it's fitted by the main dealer.
