Default Trouble with door not unlocking with alarm fob

Hi all,
Got an issue which i really need a hand with as its getting on my nerves now.

I had a new alarm (not a brand name but a decent unit i think) fitted a while back and hadn't had any probs unitl a few weeks back.

Now everytime I press the fob to unlock the car it beeps and disables the alarm but doesn't unlock the doors? I have to then manually unlock the doors with my key everytime and its bloody annoying. When i lock the car up it does lock all the doors though.

However, when i unlock the car and manually open just the passenger door, press to lock and it wont lock the passenger door via the fob

Now im very confused.
Could it be the door motors that were installed with the alarm are playing up?
Is it the alarm itself?

Please help as I dont know where to start.

Paul

Sounds very much like the rod has slipped on the drivers door actuator that was fitted when you had the alarm fitted. It's not a hard job to adjust if if you are handy with a screw driver.

Arh right, could you tell me where abouts that will be? Is it behind the door card or is it on the door frame side of things?

I actually had a look at the passenger side earlier and couldnt see anything amiss.

If you could explain how I could check the rod and what it needs to be like/do id be very grateful

Cheers mate

if you open your door and look athe the door card side of it. the door motor will be located within the frame at the rhs of the door. round about where the catch is. If you remove the door card and arm/disarm your alarm you should hear the motor trying to operate. this will help you locate it.

does the motor make any noises as though its trying to lock the door?

The motor is located behind the wiring in picture 3.

I couldnt hear it making any noise i dont think, id have to have another listen.
If it doesnt do you think the motors buggered or would you say maybe a wire to it is failing? Might have to get the old multimeter out

Cheers!

if it unlocks via the remote but doesnt lock it is either a fuse or a faulty alarm.

Ok...

if the car locks but doesnt unlock then the wiring is fine. If there was a problem with the wiring it wouldnt work at all.

if the motor in the drivers door sounds like its trying to do something when you try to unlock, then the issue is with the motor.

if the motor in the drivers door doesn't sound like it's trying to do anything when you unlock, the issue is with the alarm
