Hi all,

I've just read somewhere that the Metasat tracker that comes as standard on the Hawkeye needs an annual 'top-up' - which basically means an annual fee.

I wasn't told anything by the dealer i bought my car off and i've heard nothing from Metasat at all about this.The tracker was set-up just over a year ago.

I checked the status from my mobile today and it is still giving me location details but don't want it to suddenly stop working without me knowing.

You should have a username and password somewhere?You can then log on to the metasat website and check yor status.

mine is fitted with an rac trackstar would this be because its an early hawkeye 55 plate? my anual fee is £120.

I think £120 is a standard fee,my smart track cost the same,and so did most others when looking. 100 euro's is very cheap!

Hhhm,never had a username or password.Been through all the paperwork and all i've got are the user 'sheet' and a fax saying it's active.


Where did you get your's from Jon?

The dealer isn't answering emails either-typical.Will email Metasystem UK and see what they say.

Right,now i'm confused

Just had an email reply from MetaSAT.........

Good afternoon

If, as you have stated in the subject of your e-mail, you have the MetaSAT GPA fitted to your vehicle, this does not have an annual fee associated to it. Neither do you require user credentials to access the services for this system as it is a self managed system. Subsequent vehicles have a different system fitted which do require user credentials & require service renewal.

I have attached the MetaSAT GPA User Guide to this e-mail to assist you with your query.

Just been all through my documents and theres no mention of which Metasat model I have??

..as for the password.It is on a letter from the Main Dealer and also a text message from Telematics

Think I may fire off an e-mail to them now

How did you get on Jon?

The dealer got back to me but they weren't too sure themselves so i contacted Subaru Customer Care and it seems i'm one of the lucky ones.

The first MetaSAT systems that were fitted,MetaSAT GPA800,don't need to be topped up annually,they just need the sim to be in credit for it to work!

However,the next lot of MetaSAT system's,i'm told they're called 'MetaSAT on the road' do need an annual top up.

it also has a secondary side to it so you can track it from the internet and you can set it to warn you if your battery is low or if the car goes above a preset MPH.
