Question MY00 Subaru alarm?

Had a problem with the standard MY00 Subaru alarm the other day.
Pulled up at my local KFC and the alarm would not arm its self from the keyfob. So I locked the door using the key.
After buying my food I went to start the car as normal with the key and pressing the keyfob once cuz the Immobaliser but it didnt work.
tried its a few time, I even changed the battery on the keyfob.
After playing the they keypad I some how set the alarm off but dont know how and off again so I quickly tried starting the car. No problem.
Got home and every thing was sweet.
Why?

Hmm i was just about to ask a question about this.

Ive now got a MY00, do they have remote central locking as standard? I have to use the keyfob to disable the immobiliser, but the key to unlock the drivers door then manually do the rest!

Didnt think this was right!

Hi Ollie,

It was definitely working before I took the car kit and radio out, I'm really sorry but I was rushing things, I have a feeling it is probably something to do with when I took the glove box out, there are only 4 or 5 screws, pop it out and check the connection otherwise I'd check the fuses, but 100% hand on heart it was working when I pulled up on the drive to take everything out

Ok ill take a look, not a big problem. The only other thing ive found is that possibly the interior lights fuse has blown because none of them work! (apart from the dash!).

How come you had to take the glove box out?

sometimes the remotes don't work near pilons etc. so certain areas are iffy.

Sigma M30 Alarm system - well known problem with MY99/00. The alarm box is unsheilded to Radio Interference (police/taxi etc)
Subaru are aware of it and it is a warrantee fix through Sigma - Free Of Charge!!

Get it to your dealer, adn they'll change it for you. DON'T PAY FOR IT - IT'S FREE!!!

You end up with a replacement alarm box that is sheilded.

In the meantime, you can get around it by keying in your alarm code - or rolling the car out of the signal's way

Hope this helps Had it done to mine. Been AOK since

Ollie,

I had to take the glove box out because I had a Nokia car kit in there, the control box was somewhere up above the glove box, if the interior lights have stopped working as well I'm sure I will have blown a fuse somewhere

I started off with just an STI back box (single 3" bore) - told the wife it was just the same as the twin peashooter

quite easy to change then from the STI to the Scoobysport... the noise did change, and she noticed - but I said that she was imagining things!!!
Also justified it being stainless steel straight through - saves on buying any omre exhausts!!!

See ya soon Ray,

Dan
