I went for the Sigma M30 on my MY00 import. It used to be the alarm that Subaru UK fitted after the cars came into the country - I guess it still is on the later cars. No problems with the alarm in three years - good price too.

Toad ai606 is the b0llox mate.
Cheap as chips at roughly £200, get some extras added (proximity, pager etc...)
(Edited cos I am a tw@t)

I'd personally go for a clifford G4 alarm (a 300 or 600) as you get the likes of anti hijack and one damn good alarm (with lots of optional extras like turbo timers etc )
You just have to see if you can find a good installer though as this is the achilles heal of a clifford alarm (human incompetence).
Forget the idea of the sigma, its not a bad alarm but there's MUCH better out there

What's your definition of "best"?
If you're on a budget then you can't go too far wrong with any thatcham cat 1. The absolute rule for any alarm is that it's only as effective as the installer makes it...
