Hi
The car I have has a concept 500 alarm fitted and has the facility for acting as a turbo timer. I have been lead to beleive that it is possible to access the functions/settings of the alarm using a laptop. HAs anyone heard of this before, or know who/where it can be done?

I think that you need to go into your local installer and get a Data Port fitted, I believe that they put it in the glove box, then you connect your laptop to it and run the Clifford software.

Any idea on cost?

Can I run/get the software from anywhere?
Thought i'd use the same laptop to download from a data logger as well.

Mike

I was looking into this recently as when cleaning my car found the lead that the clifford data port clips into, which from memory is a three pin cable.
The software is downloadable from http://www.clifford.com/wizard/index.html, but does not seem to list clifford 500 (I've got same alarm).
But then need the connecting cable to laptop, serial type connection to the above mentioned cable (under my front driver seat in my case)
Found one place on net that sell connecting cable and version of software, but its £58. Seems a lot to me as I only want to change the sound of the siren ! ie
http://www.caralarms4you.co.uk/accessories.htm
I will ring local Clifford dealer and see if they can supply cable and software for cheaper.
Not too sure about turbo timer bit though

Hope this helps

I got one last year, cost £50 inc cable and software. Was just gonna make up the lead but there is some electronic box build into it. Can be used to test various bits on the car like the brake lights while you stand outside the car, can change code for blackjax and alter siren times etc. Not bad but not something you'll use every month. I'm using mine soon to disable the blackjax for it's mot so the tester doesn't have to **** about with the codes(and he won't know it either - paranoid head on
You can also see the last 8 alarms history and do things like adjust auto locking/auto arming without messing around with the remotes all day

ive got the PC end of the cable on order from my local clifford dealer. took a bit of blagging tho as theyve stopped selling them having had too many ppl come back with a totally bolloxed up alarm.

so download the software (only available for win95/98/ME) and buy a cable (gonna be about £20)
