New WRX due for it's 1st service but Wilsons (Subaru), chadwell heath, don't want to know because it's an import.Thinking Scoobysport or Power Engineering. Any comments, reports or suggestions? Must be London or Essex area. THANKS.

Perry,
I dont think they can do this (refuse to service) - its against the
EU anticompetitive laws
have a look at this link
http://europa.eu.int/comm/competitio...1475_95_en.pdf
its a bit wordy but pages 26/27/28 seem relevant, and see
question 35
you could also try phoning Subaru's Hotline 0121-557-2112
and ask to speak to Madeline Passmore and complain about the
dealers attitude (quoting Eu regs 1475/95 might help!)
A post in "general" might bring more help/views

cheers alan

Cool

Thanks for the advice, I spoke to Madeline Passmore and it's all been sorted. The only problem is according to my service book the car has to be serviced every 7500 miles/6 months.I don't know if there is anything I can do about this. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you but it's been a buisy old week.

For EU imports you need to have the service done at 7500 mile and/or 12 monthly intervals to keep the 3 year warraty in place.

Question

According to the service book the service intervals are every 6 months/7500 miles.I would think if I left it 12 months it would invalidate the warranty.

And re-reading my two replies, it seems that my translations into English from the original Viking have also been a bit below par.

strikes me that the 6 month 7500 mile interval for imports is a touch anti-competetive too as they've moved the UK supplied cars on to 12 months / 10000 mile intervals now.

unless i read the above posts incorrectly (which is quite possible)

These EU warranties are provided by eg. Subaru Netherlands, not Subaru UK (orIM), and thus the intervals are those that apply to all Scoobys registered in eg. Holland, where the intervals are 12500/25000km.

I believe there are plans to increase the continental intervals to UK equivalents in 2/3 years time.

Unhappy

I spoke to Subaru UK and their smug reply was, that one reason they increased the service intervals was to save their customers money etc... So it's back to the drawing board re: servicing.
