Blackjax - make new friends
#1
Since I have the worst memory on the planet and always forget to disarm the system .. I find I'm making new friends as people wave when I involuntarily start 'pipping' at them... I have the friendliest Scooby in yorkshire... Most amusing...

Wait till you've got the stereo turned up and don't notice the pips!
Then make several mistakes and feel like a complete tw*t sat in the middle of a roundabout for a minute or two.......

One word of warning, if you ever have to put it into valet mode when you leave it at say a dealers make sure you double check it is set. I did not and had a nice long drive back to the garage to deactivate it !!

I'm sure mine turned off every time......
Anyway, I'd rather give them the remote and turn blackjax off - at least then the alarm/immobiliser is still on.
Leaving valet mode on for ages means there's no protection at all, which seems like a very bad idea (given most garage's liking for leaving cars unlocked anyway...)

rich a - your concept 600 valet mode is one time only. If it isn't, it's violating thatcham rules.
If you're talking about turning off bj, you can do that for as long as you like...
If you are talking about full system valet, get it looked at immediately!

A chap that lives round the corner from me has recently bought one of those Vauhall VX220's. Every time he drives past my house he seems to sound his car alarm for a few seconds - do you think this is BlackJax too?

Chiark is right, anyone with a Concept 300/500/600 which when put into valet mode doesn't return to normal the next time the ignition is turned on should return to their dealer to have it rectified. The stand alone Blackjax isn't Thatcham recognised, so when put into valet mode it will remain so till manually returned to normal.
