BlackJax - How does it work
#1
so what if he comes up to lights, or has to do a bit of fancy braking to avoid something. a couple of taps on the pedal would immobilise the car. and i agree that they may have time to damage your car, but at least you get it back.
Edited coz i can't type

Sorry if it off topic, but need an answer. Does anyone have a link to the mechanics of this system? Is it an Add-on to an already installed system? Stand alone etc.?

The best people to talk to are your local clifford dealer who will demonstrate said device to you, broadcasting it over the net on exactly how an anti hijacking device works isnt really that sensible

Good point!. Never though of it in that light. I blame the monday mornings. All i really want to know is what procedure is followed. From what i gather there is a certain sequence to be followed when you get in the car, and if this isn't followed then the car chucks it a short distance down the road? I'll get on the phone to Clifford for more details. There gadget and feature range seems to be endless!
Thanx Anyway!

Cool. what i was wondering is. How deos the system know that a theif has just put a gun to your head and asked you to get out the car. Then how does it know that it aint you in the car and its being nicked??

2 of my freinds have got these, there very good.
i think he told me that if your getting dragged out of your car by a car jacker then you tap the brake pedal twice and it activates the blackjack.

nah, don't work like that. Basically, if you open and close your door while the car enginw is running you must enter your secret code. so no stopping at the bank with your engine running, go get cash and back in and drive away. you have a total of 40 secs before the system will kill the engine.

But after that 40 seconds you had better have made yourself scarce, in case the chaps come back!
I also worry that by the time you get to your car again, they'd have trashed it...

When you get in the car and switch the ignition on the Clifford recognizes this and if the door is opened while the ignition is on and then closed again it recognises this and BlackJax is activated you then have to enter your valet code or else the next time you brake the will automatically it kills the ignition.
Basically it doesn’t know if its you or a hijacker that has caused the door to open and close while the engine is running/ignition is on.............if the door opened and the closed it will ask for you valet code with in certain amount of time and if that if not entered then the next time you brake (wire from Clifford to brake light switch or bulb) it cuts the ignition and the immobilizer kicks in as well as light and sirens going and the only way to stop/get car working again is to enter the valet code.
Simple really: D

Yes thats right......within the allocated time limit. Can be a bit of a pian but you get used to it.
Letting you car warm up and cool down used to be a pain but you get used to that as well.
