Default New Member with Questions before buying

Hello everyone, loved subarus for as long as i can remember, now i have just turned 20 a good few days back, insurance is coming down gradually, looking for a 2.0 sport 4wd Bug eye, is there anything to look out for when buying one? what MPG should i expect? and is £3000 or there abouts enough to cover my wish list?

My current car is now up for sale, if anyone fancies a look ..

I think due to wanting a non turbo version, i will be going the "stanced" route again until insurance says i can afford a turbo and lots of BHP.

Don't bother with a sport. Get something with a turbo. I was 20 when I got my Terzo. Best year and a half of my life when I had that car. Your Bora is tidy by the way. Think I might have seen it around. I'm not a million miles from Motherwell myself.

Welcome to SNet! You've got me reminiscing now... good times. Wish I was 20 again.

I wish! £4k to insure a turbo scooby! Or £1500 on a sport.

That's nuts. Shows just how much premiums have risen in 5 years. I was £1850 on my own policy with my mum as a named driver. That may have been TPF&T though... can't remember.

So ... the bora sold yesterday (09/02) and today is the day i go to see a subaru i have had my eyes on for a couple weeks, phoned up and asked all the questions about the car, its past, belts, service history etc, and to say im excited is an understatement, hence why im up at 20 past 2 on here looking for ideas on what to do to the car! cant wait to get one, wanted once since i was about 7! so finally getting a form of my "dream" car, it just doesnt have the STI engine under the bonnet.

Alrite mate, I've just signed up here this month as I'm away to pick up an 06 sti hawkeye on Saturday. Who were you looking at for insurance because for me fully comp I managed to get mine for £750 (how I managed that I will never know as it was up around the 1200 mark the day before) through admiral? Might be worth a try! Although I'm a year older than yourself it should still be cheaper than 4K - or so I would have thought!!

Allan have you tried the Subaru friendly specialist insurers? I had to move away from places such as Admiral etc and go to 1-2 that are on here for my Hawkeye and now my Hatch STI.
