Help with my STI7 Oil Pressure Gauge
#1
I had 3 DEFI gauges installed recently, my problem is with the oil pressure one, can anbody local help.
I got the triple DEFI gauge pack installed but my Oil pressure is giving off some scary readings. It sits around 6.0 then when you put the foot down it races up to the end of the scale (10.0) and drops back to zero. This repeats itself several times eratically and eventually it rests back at 6.0 ish.
They are brand new gauges but the oil was recently changed at my 1000 mile service to Millers 10W60.
Its a brand new STI7 with only 1300 miles on the clock now. Any help would be appreciated.
I am away for the next few days but will be back Friday night.
Anyone out there feel they can help.
Will travel anywhere Saturday or Sunday.

Not technically minded so can't help but how much was that gauge setup and what readings does it give. I assume boost, oil temp and oil pressure. Does it look the mutts?

Hi Dave
Don't know anything about Defi gauges, but is the oil pressure gauge mechanical or electrical?
If electrical, it may be a connection problem, if it's mechanical, then check the pipes to it and where it's connected to.
Don't know if the new Impreza has had any changes regards oil pump, but 6 bar sounds about right, but will rise with rpm, though shouldn't think it should be as high as 10 bar.....7 bar ish yes, but 10 bar?...hmmmm.

Another thought....you say it drops to zero, then goes back up etc, does the warning light come on?
If not, I don't think i would worry too much, could be a faulty gauge after all or it may be needing damped to stabilise the readings.
Check the warning light is still connected........

Me again!!!
Does it settle at 6 bar if you keep your foot down? i.e. foot down, 6bar, rise to 10, drop to 0, rise, fall etc, then settle at 6 with your foot on the gas?
If so, sounds like gauge needs dampened.
