Sunday 5th May - Aberdeen
#1
The RS Owners Club have kindly invited us to their annual event (we all got sunburnt last year!).
This year it is being held at the Old Mill Inn on the South Deeside Road on Sunday 5th May.
We'll have our own reserved display area (all welcome), with prizes for the best car.
It's generally an excellent day out with lots of nice cars on display, trade stands, pub lunch etc.
We had about 20 cars there last year, and would hope to have the same again this year.
For those coming from the south of the city, I can highly recommend coming over the Cairn O'Mount road, before coming along the South Deeside Road
Hope to see lots of you there.

I might be able to make it, depending on how awake I am as I'll be <jet set>straight off a plane back from Houston</not that jet set for Aberdeen>.

Tut I know it's TT weekend, but wasn't planning to do the run on the Sunday morning.
What I'm now planning to do is to go home, see the family for a few minutes, and then head off to the Old Mill Inn to have a lazy day in the sun, working off my hangover with umpteen bacon rolls and a pub lunch
Don't worry, I'll still be there for the Friday and Saturday

I'm gonna be up that weekend visiting family, never been to any events yet.
( I've only got a wee sport... sob)
May nip in on my way back home if that's alright with you folks.
All I have to do now is work out where the venue is.
( My knowledge of Aberdeen is limited.) :-)

Iain,
Website here.
Better map here.
From Aberdeen either go out the South Deeside Road (B9077) or out the North Deeside Road (A93) and cross the river on the bridge after Milltimber but before Peterculter.
The place is in the corner of where the bridge road meets the South Deeside

I'm planning to attend this on 5th May.
What are you looking for in a best car - mods, or standard and very clean/shiney or no set criteria?
I'll probably be shy and leave it in the car park with the Vectras.

Clubby - it's the RS Owners Club that make the decision on the day. It has usually been the cleanest/shiniest, but they are occassionally swayed, by lots of exterior mods.
I don't think anyone has actually stayed around until the very end to collect the award in the past couple of years, so it's not something to worry about. Last year, about half the cars on show handn't even been washed or polished, so don't worry about parking your car next to the rest.
Cheers

I did intend to be there, however KLM decided to delay my flight from Houston for 6 hours Did intend on popping past but when I finally got into Aberdeen I was completely knackered, and besides the seagulls had been using the car for target practice
Still the delay gave me the opporunity to work on the stock of Heineken in the KLM lounge.

Stuart,
I'm with you to an extent, however, ... the marque / type rivalry is really beginning to get on my **** !
I speak from the point of view of someone who's owned; performance Fords, Impreza Turbos (plural), an Evo VI ... and now an STi UK.
Personally, I can't see myself owning a Cossie again - that's part of my own agenda (I won't go in to details).
I have however paid due respect to the owners of mega-powered Cossie's at KH which have blown everething else away.
I think I speak for all true petrol heads in saying that I'll always have time for anyone who'se proud of their car.
Let's stick together on this basis.
Maybe someone will be good enough to post a link to this post on the RSOC board.
