Got back to my car last night after leaving work (council car park), to fnid that smoe kind soul had left lots of white paint on my bumper, in exchange for a larger quantity of my paint and plastic from the front bumper and fog lamp cover.

They thoughtfully didn't leave a note to say they were sorry, or how to get in touch with them, obviously worried that they might not get the sympathy for the damage they caused to their car.

The police haven't had time to come and see me yet, but are promising to do so tonight (there goes my planned night out!). I'm hoping that CCTV footage from the car park will identify the culprit, and the police can take action against them, but I'm not hopeful on this front.

If anyone in the Aberdeen area spots a vehicle with white bumpers, with scratches and blue paint on the front passenger side corner, then can you please let me know

I've now got to get a number of quotes to get the damage repaired, which means I'll probably not make it to Kames tomorrow either

Mightily p*ssed off at the moment.

Hope you find whoever was responsible - some people just don't give a toss about anyone else's property

Sorry to hear that John, I fully understand your feelings, you know how many times my car has been vandalised/bashed, well add another one

I'll probably get arrested for closely examining all the white cars I see over the next few days

Come along to Kames then skive (sp?) off work on Monday to get your quotes

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I've got quotes for a new bumper and fog covers, and also Jools has a good contact with a spray shop, which looks like the best option so far.

Gadge - the paint is right off the bumper, and through to the plastic, with some of that removed as well. Would need to be sanded and filled.

Cheers

Still no sign of the police I'll bet they would have been on the scene within 30 seconds if I told them the culplrit was speeding away from the scene of the crime. They phoned last night at almost 11pm to apologise for not coming round. Wasted a good night out that I had planned. They'll try and come around this morning some time...............

Thanks for all the replies guys, very much appreciated.

Police arrived shortly before lunch today. Spent 45 minutes taking a statement, and looking at the damage. Now I've polished it up a bit it doesn't look nearly so bad, but will still need repaired.

Police went straight to car park, and asked for CCTV footage. The guy there offered to look through the videos, and look out for anything. There might be a chance that where I was parked was covered by one of the cameras, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Cheers

Sorry to here about your car John. Hope its sorted soon. I will be looking for some quotes of my own after getting hit by a piece of flying exhaust on the way back from Newcastle today. Front offside wing and drivers door damaged. I am gutted. Did you try T&C for a quote and how did they compare to others?
