Does anyone know where I can get my bottle filled? BOC wont supply me unless I can prove I am a dentist/vet and a lot of other gas companies dont stock it.

Cheers,

Scott.

I really can't understand these people. Ask them in the politest way why you need to be a vet/dentist to have a use for it. I'm not aware of any law against it's carraige and use. Maybe the local vet will do the business for you if you take out a pet plan or something

Cheers guys. I was polite and courteous but the reason BOC gave me was because someone got a couple of cannisters, took them to a concert and started charging people for sniffs. I then asked "so what if I am a vet?" and they said they would need to see my documentation. Their final word was that they will not supply it for automotive use.

Is it just me... or does it sound a bit of a p!ss take that knowhere can fill up the bloody bottle without being a vet or a dentist.

I was thinking of investing some money in a Nitro kit for my Alfa 155, if this is the hassle... maybe not! I don't fancy having to drive down to lancashire just to fill up!

Mini rant over... seems bloody stupid.

Thanks for your help Maxy, but this seems to be the usual. It was Peugeot Ecosse that put me on to BOC, and if they wont supply me, where are the rest of their customers getting it? I've heard of other companies doing the same.

I got my kit from Highpower in Doncaster and it looks like I'll have to get refills from there for now.

If I find a way of being able to do refilling myself I'll let you know J.

Hi Doug, as I understand it they drop of a large industrial cannister and exchange it when its empty (or you can pick it up and exchange it at a BOC dealer). If you were to deal with BOC an account/contract would have to be set up with them which requires your bank details etc as ongoing rental has to be paid as well as the purchase of the gas, so I wouldnt expect anyone else to do that.

But if any dentist or vets were willing to let me buy any "extra" bottles from them ;-) let me know.

BTW I'm in Fife, near Kirkcaldy and I suppose I should tell you its for a Honda not a Scoob. :-)

Cheers

Scott.

There's a guy in Kirkcaldy who has large cylinders of Nitrous and a transfer rig. I had a few refills from him when I had my drag car. I can't remember his name (really helpful) but he has the VW buggy that runs at Crail, the REALLY LOUD one

He has a cafe in Kirkcaldy and apparently they use Nitrous for the ice cream dispensing machine !!

He had no problem getting cylinders, one time when he ordered CO2 for one of the other machines BOC delivered Nitrous in error !! 4 huge bottles of the stuff.

Worth a try if you can track him down

Hey Pete - just sortin out that info and pics for you.
I didnt think it would be this much hassle to get the stuff. Its an 11lb bottle (measures 25x6 inches). I've been putting off getting it refilled because its so easy just to go out and do some "testing" ;-) and I wanted a full bottle for Crail.

CC - is that a guy called Lovatt? Might try and track him down tomorrow...cheers. Maybe if I say its for food preparation...hmmmm

Cool

Highpower Nitrous Systems supplied my kit. They are also know as the Wizard of Nos, based in Doncaster (www.noswizard.co.uk) very helpful and I would recommend them.
I fitted it myself and shouldnt be too much trouble to anyone thats even half handy with a spanner, all instructions were included. As for companies that supply kits up here, there seems to be a few now - Peugeot Ecosse, XS Motorsport, Bedrock, etc, but I dont know if they do fitting too.
If you want to have a look I will be at Crail on the 24th.

On the N2O supply - it looks like I will be doing my own refills. With any luck a large 50 litre cannister will be heading my way next week.

Question

Dave, how soon will AWD be able to do refills (rough date) and approximate cost? Might save me doing the big bottle thing.

Cheers.

I'm a dentist but don't use Nitrous at work
So don't know what procedure would be for refill
Where are you based?
If BOC will do refill I could probably help you out If they only need proof of practising
Could there be probs if your cylinder is different to medical ones?
Is it an exchange or refill service?
Sam Elessar is also on the Scoobynet, he is a dentist too he's based in Dundee He may be able to give more info ?
Doug
