I'm new to the Scotland Scooby scene but I did attend a hot hatch track day last year just to watch and drool (mainly scoobies there) I've picked up my own scoob since then and fancy a blast at a hot hatch day. I see the next one is Nov 4th, anyone from here going?

I took my scooby on for a hot hatch day back in July, and frankly, never again.
You may as well have a bulls eye on the back bumper, as everyone sees you as a target. Also, the standard of SOME of the cars and more importantly SOME of the drivers seemed a bit poor. queing up for the pitlane last time the cavalier in front of me sounded a bit noisy, and the driver got out and pulled the back box of by hand, then calmly threw it in the boot!
A much better bet is the top marques nights, which attract better cars and drivers who care a bit more about diving down the inside at the hairpin. Only trouble is the limited track time, but as there are less cars there than the hot hatch days, it does not seem to make that much difference.
Just my view, for that one day in July, so why not go and see what it is like?

Knockhill - we've done loads of these in the past few years. I think I must have organised over 10 of them now, and attended a few others organised by other car clubs.
A few members have gone to Hot hatch events, but the wide variety of cars taking part, and sometimes lack of driving skill can make these more hazardous to attend than an organised track event which limits the number of participants, and tries to ensure an even mix of cars and encourages high driving standards.
The Hot Marques events at Knockhill are better suited for Impreza owners in general. Much fewer cars on track, and generally piloted by people who care about their cars, and have nothing to prove in terms of being faster than other cars. Reasonable value for moeny as well, in terms of track time offered for the money.
I organise the Knockhill events for the SIDC, and we'll hopefully have 3 or 4 events there next year. Probably 70 - 80% Imprezas taking part, with the usual handful of Elises and other select sports cars. We either go for a two hour event in an evening (usually about 30 cars at £30 - £35 per head, open pit lane, unlimited track time), or a 4 hour open pit lane session with about 40 - 45 cars taking part for about £60 - £65. Although the 4 hour sessions have more cars, they tend to have less on track at any time, as people aren't so worried about getting the maximum number of laps in the time available, and tend to do many shorter sessions on track.
Spectators and passengers are welcome (usually no charge unless we are collecting for charity) at all out events. We'll look forward to seeing you there next year

Hi John,
I think i might have met you back in July at Knockhill i think. I went as a spectator and met Rob and his RB5 and had a few spins in it. I had a great laugh, met some nice people and saw some excellent cars to boot.
Anyway that got me hooked, so until i leave Uni im gonna go and watch as often as i can. When i do leave Uni ill join the club and get the Scoob ASAP and will be seeing you out on track.

Skunk,
I would agree with everyone's comments on here regarding "Hot Hatch" days, do not go on these.
I had a shot once and nearly got t-boned by a clapped out Astra on the warm-up lap Also couldn't get a rhythm going because the burger boys were ending up in the gravel traps every other lap!!
Like John says if you want to take out your prized possession take it along to the SIDC events, I must have attended about 8 of them now at Knockhill and they have been most entertaining.
Kosy, how's it going mate!!
Cheers,
Rob.
