Cool KNOCKHILL ON SUNDAY

In addition to my MY04 WRX STI TSL 333, I bought a Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI for track use last week and took it up for hot hatch on Sunday there. Fookin brilliant! Shame the fog came in and ended the day about 3:30pm but had a great time appart from that. That Peugeot has so much grip and is so much fun - roll on the next one!!!

Also registered with a good forum if you are into Peugeots:

Funny that, I was speaking to another guy on Sunday in the pit lane who also had the same conversion! They are glued to the tarmac - and that was in the wet!!!

Well there are dafties but you get that on the road as well. At least in the track environment, there are trained marshalls, skid off areas etc and you get pulled off and sent into the sin bin if you do anything wreckless. 'Motorsport is dangerous.' There is no denying it, however for me, overall, I would rather risk pranging my 205 (£500) on the track than my Scooby (£17,000.) I find that if I 'vent' my desire to floor it by doing a trackday, then I am a more considerate, slower and safer driver inbetween track days. (well, that is the theory!!!)

Yes, it can be a bit hectic at times. But I've been doing them for about 6 years now and I've never been caught up in any accidents (touch wood), so it's not as bad as it looks from the outside. Sort of controlled mayhem.

I wouldn't use my road car on hot hatch days though.

Yeah to be fair ive not seen any accidents there yet, just a few over zelous drivers going off into the gravel traps.

Not been up this year tho, ive heard that they resurfaced the track and upgraded some of the gravel traps and run off areas...is this true? If so whats it like now?

Should hopefully get up for a few prestige marques days with my mate later in the year.

And if I ever get my Fiesta Si back together I might go on myself.

Yes, that is true. My brother and I did alternative heats on Sunday and he won the toss for first shot so I was passenger at first. I could not believe how smooth the track is now (this was my first trackday in a couple of years as I just bought the Pug over a week ago.) It must be easier on the car as it is so smooth. The run off areas have been vastly improved as well.

Cool, I hope they have ironed out the bumps on the track when approaching the final hairpin before the start/finish straight.
Always felt a bit dodgy there under heavy breaking.

Will need to get up for a look sometime soon.

Cheers stephen,

Stephen lol.

*edited - because im stupid!!

Cheers Gavin, which one are you referring to though, the Subaru or the Peugeot - I love em both!!!

Ultimately, I opted for a private sale however would not have discounted buying from Ian Grieve Subaru had the right car come up for the right price. Thanks for all your help at the time anyway. I see this appears to be your first post on the Scoobynet (well under your current name anyway) - welcome!!!
