My best shot at an answer Moses, but I am no expert:

2.2s are bigger bore not stroke. The 2.5s are both bigger bore and longer stroke.

Phase I cranks (92-96) had smaller (48mm IIRC) big end journals, Phase II (99 on) are 52mm. 97 and 98 are Phase "1.5" and I can't recall whether they are more like Phase I or II for the cranks. The pistons protrude from the deck more on Phase I so they require thicker headgaskets for the same compression ratio. Can't tell you about the rod lengths or gudgeon pin positions.

What are you trying to build? Power/torque objectives?

Think you'll need to get service manual specs to find exactly the dimensions you require.
