Prodrive Me Up - QE2 suspension going soon.
Hooray,
After "winning" £105 through the Ladbrokes deal I have booked the 03 WRX in for Prodrive Suspension and Geometry at a very reasoanble price from A.F. Nobles.
Booked in next Friday 18th in time for run up to Alford. Can't wait to feel a bit more planted on the road and a bit more predictable.
Anyone who has Prodrive suspension on this car got any comments?
Thanks Brian

Be interesting to see the difference Brian when you get this done. Do you know roughly of the top of your head the cost of the set. This could probably be my next move in a short while.

I didn't like the Prodrive settings on my car. In fact I actually thought my car was running std MY99 geometry after AF Nobles fitted my Eibach springs.
I went along to CLCM with settings in havd only to be told they're already on it. Not sure about the newage, but the classics run toe-in. This can wear inside edges of the tyres if you do motorway cruising a lot.
In the end I'm running 0 toe, but loads of negative camber. Big improvement, but settings are a personal thing and need to suit your style of driving and the type of roads you're likely to barrel down

The cost is £289 plus VAT for fitting, parts and geometry etc.
See how the settings go Stefan as they must be better than I have now,
Brian.

I have ZERO cash too. Was hoping to go on at Knockhill again this weekend but by he time I figure in the track cost and petrol, my pads would then need replaced immediately etc it would cost me money I can't afford at the moment.
Thanks to Ladbrokes I am a bit more able to.
Hope the car is running well Paul,
Brian.

Car's running good Brian. Dont know if i am just getting used to it or not, its pulling really well. As i had said to a few of you's i was not to sure directly after the remap about vast increases in power, however having a chance to drive some of my local roads, you can certainely feel the increases. Will find out in August on the Rollers. I think to top the car off now would be the Suspension kit. But it is a no go at present, tyres soon, brake pads soon and probably another service.
never bloody ending, i need that lottery win asap. lol.

Paul,
Has your car (before the remap I suppose) inherited the 3 year EU warranty now after the EU expansion then?
Brian.

Brian, prodrive suspension make the car softer on the road, although grip levels are improved. It also takes away the impression that the car is on stilts.
The set-up on my old Sti was good on the road, but a boat on the track.

Good point Brian, should actually check with litimports, as i would imagine malta being part of the EU now, it would be covered.
However as far as i have known since i bought the car, i have a 3 year Pan European, as it says on my Handbook and purchase sale. I was also given the European certificate of conformity, something i know motorpoint do not give.
When i attempted to register the car with IM, they wrote back stating to me that as malta is not part of the EU, you cannot register with us. I called litimports at this time and they stated to me, that i would still have to go through malta in any claim made. So as i was told
1-take it to dealer here
2-they will contact IM, who will contact subaru Malta who will then sanction the warranty work to go ahead..
I think basically cause i have the proof of 3 year pan european warranty and certificate of UK spec, it cant be refused work anywhere in the EU.
But as you said, remap, ect, ect, probably nil and void unless i strip it off.
Bit long winded, but will be checking now with litimports, see what the story is.

I am getting them fitted on Friday so I am sure I will notice the difference.
Superb night last night on stage @ the Clyde Auditorium (AKA The Armadillo). REALLY pissed that I can't go to G3 in a week or so's time.
Know anyone who wants to buy a ticket?
Brian.

Had the Prodrive springs fitted today by A.F. Nobles in Penicuik. The car looks visibly lower and as I was sliding round a corner with a controlled and minimal amount of movement from the back of the car I knew it was good value for money, even while it was chucking it down. It looks good, the springs are blue, the steering feel at low speeds is less light and around right hand slow corners (ie traffic lights and roundabouts) you really notice the difference. Seems to be much more positive and more direct feeling.
The ride quality is fairly similar but it definitely feels a lot more planted on the ground, more feedback through the wheel but also slightly rougher – more raw and a bit less refined (and a tad noisier). However, I can’t say I am complaining about it feeling a bit rawer.
Seems to be the opposite of the STI spring kit. It’s said that the WRX is too floaty and smooth – the spring kit fixes that – it is firmer and more solid feeling. The STI spring kit seems to make the set up nicer on road, less bouncy and slightly softer.
Well recommended. Quick Shift is next!!
